X-box/GC price in Sweden is set!!! LOL

X-box: 4995 :-  = 475 US $
PS2: 3195:- = 304 US $
GC: 2495 :- = 237 US $

As you can see, the x-box will cost twice as much as the GC here in Sweden.

I wounder what will happen with the x-box price here after a month or so.
I remember when I bought my PSone back in ´95 for 3195 :- (304 $) , the Sega Saturn cost 5495 :- (523 $).

I smell Saturn here. 475 US $ for a x-box!!! LOL

I can\'t wait to see what the Finnish price will be... something out of normal people\'s reach fer sure. I wonder how much the games will cost... any info on that in sweden yet?

You can get a PS2 game for around 450-500 (If you dont go to SIBA and especially not Åhléns!) ($42-47USD)

Well it looks like MS has decided not to lose any money in secondary markets.  Let\'s face it Japan and the US are the biggest consumers and that is where MS aparently left their pocket book.

MS probably knows that the other markets aren\'t as important and since it won\'t lose any money there, there is no risk.

MS is taking a huge risk in Japan (and even a risk in the US) and didn\'t want to jump in with both feet all around the world.  It seems like smart business to me--they can\'t compete with the userbase or price in Europe so they decided not to even try.  Anything they sell there is just gravy.

While it is sad to see, I can understand why they are doing it.  It\'s too bad, because the mainstream will never know how good it is.

Not only in sweden. But the whole of Europe aswell..

For a while... eventually, I\'ll have to buy one. But no way am I paying anything near that sum for one of those. I paid about 400FIM more than that for my PS2 though. I guess our taxes are so f\'n high then...

I paid 599SEK for Shenmue 2 (had to buy it from Stockholm \'cause it\'s nowhere to be found here in Finland), and most PS2 games I saw in the stores we browsed through cost about as much, bad choice of store I guess

To top that, everything here in Finland seems to be more expensive than in Sweden, we have to pay about 650SEK for PS2 games already... wonder how the XBox prices compare.

In finland the console prices go somethin\' like this :

PS2 : ~ 1990FIM
GCN : Some predict about 1500FIM, others a bit higher
XBox : 3000 if it\'s the same as in Sweden, but I bet my head on the price being at least 3500FIM, so it\'ll be more than double GC. No wonder there, all the prices are f\'d up over here
N64 : ~ 1300FIM (okay, this is silly, but I really saw this "offer" just recently)
GBA : ~ 900FIM
DC : ~ lucky is someone knows this beast exists

Webhallen used to be cheap.. Now they had to raise their prices to about 500-550. (Elgiganten is cheap I heard, to bad they dont have a store in my town)

Hawk: 1990FIM is a good price.. I think you can find a Xbox for about 3300FIM

Btw I wonder if that rumoured price cut in March is true. I wouldn’t bet to much on it. I think MGS2 and those other games (not to mention the price of the Xbox) are enough to keep people from buying a Xbox.

Who the hell is gonna buy the console at that price range when the PS2 has so much more to offer? Europeans are no different than you or me when it comes to money and common sense.

I can understand why Bill Gates got the cream pie in his face in Brussels!
