PS2 Excellent Feature
« on: January 31, 2002, 01:52:15 PM »
I just realized that the 5.1 surround system I bought has an optical input. In the manual it points out that the PS2 has an optical out on the back of the unit. This connection improves the picture quality. Nice feature.  Good thinking sony. :)

hehe yes its for only Dolby Digital sounds.

The Xbox don\'t have this conector but it there is a highdefinition pack you can buy so it has the out put of the fiber optic cable conector. The highdefinition pack is the top of the line conector for the Xbox.   We have to buy eveything for the Xbox.

The Xbox High Definition AV Pack connects the console to most TVs with interlaced component video inputs including high definition ready TVs that support 480i and either 480p, 720p or 1080i component video signals. Look for HDTV support on Xbox game packages. Movie playback is in 480i only.

This pack also supports digital or surround sound audio receivers. Sound system with Dolby Digital decoding and a fiber optic cable required to enable Dolby Digital sound. Sound system with Dolby Pro Logic decoding required to enable Dolby Surround sound. (Additional cables and sound systems sold separately.) High definition ready television required to enable high definition features.

Ah man I want to see Xbox in 1080i! Must be sweet!!

Go here if you want to see all the Xbox stuffs.

Overcompensating for rampant fanboyism--this is a classic case.  Why don\'t you just give up?

third is to conceal the absence of ideas.

My mistake, I miss typed, I meant to type sound, the picture is improved by using the AV inputs on the rear of the HDTV. But Ifm sure you know that. The optical cable goes to the receiver and the video goes to the rear connection of the HDTV. The picture does look very good. Sorry about that. There I go trying to praise the PS2 and I screw it up.

To answer your Question the system I bought  for the game room is a small Cambridge Soundworks system. $279.00. It is the DTT3500 it comes with a receiver, to small front and rear cube speakers, a slightly larger center cube speaker, and a subwoofer. I also added a second powered subwoofer and 2 extra cube speakers (the larger type like the center). I have it set up with the Center on the wall in between the two TVfs, a front speaker on The right of one TV and the left of the other, and the rear speakers behind the chairs that we sit in when playing. The subwoofers are placed in separate corners 2 inches from the wall for maximum bass output as described in the manual. The 2 extra cube speakers are only used when listening to music and they are in the back of the room near the dart board area. It fills the room with sound when listening to tunes.

Agrees. :read - done to death: Learn a new trick. Hyping something on the PS2 to draw attention away from your other posts isn\'t going to win brownie points around here.

it would be laughable if it doesn\'t support DTS... but I am sure it does too.
