anyone in the Same Boat ?
« on: February 03, 2002, 03:55:35 AM »
ok so i have my PC and PS2 and i am happy them them, but i am soon to graduate from Uni in MAY after 4 long years of hard work and studying, and i was wondering iwhat next next gen console do i buy ?

ok on the Green and black Coner we have the X box

i know i take the great care in poking fun at this oversized console but i think
HALO
Wreckless
Project Ego
to name a few has changed my mind on this

But at £300 for just the console alone its a bit steep.

:(

ok in the Pink/ purple conner we have the gamecube

Resident Evil
Eternal Darkness
(mario cart ... it will be a great after pub game with me mates)

now i only want to get one and no before everyone asks, i WILL not trade my PS2 in ... as i am still loving it.

i just want EVEN MORE gaming pleasure

well along with the likes of
MGS2
FF X
ICO
and Maximo on my PS2 anyway ;) :D

PS2 and Xbox will have similar games as well as ports.

GC on the other hand, will have slightly different line up compared to the other two.

I\'d get the GC.....coz to me, PS2=Xbox as far as genre is concerned. Perfect combo GC/PS2. That\'s my combo.

mm had the best suggestion.  There is nothing right now on the GC of interest (to me anyway).
Language services three functions. The first is to
communicate ideas. The second is to conceal ideas. The
third is to conceal the absence of ideas.

Ok i own all 3 and i would say, with out a doubt get an Xbox, it made me feel good about gaming agian, i really enjoyed the games.
And to me PS2 and Xbox is gaming heaven, i mean halo on one console, FFX on another, you can\'t go wrong, and also from the sounds of things if the GC sales don\'t go throught the roof, then resident evil might not stay exclusive.
On the 15 of March 2002, i was going to leave these forums for good.
But on the 16 of March i realised i couldn\'t ever say bye to you guys, so i am staying here for good!

I would highly recommend the Xbox.  I have had a change of heart about the Xbox in the past week or so.  I just can\'t ignore a console with so much potential.  The graphics, the Dolby 5.1 sound, the built in AA, the in-hardware bumpmapping, the built in HDD and Broadband adapter, everything about this console is just awesome.  Microsoft knows what they are doing, and for once I am actually glad that they have joined the console market.  They are actually giving the console market a much needed push towards online gaming.  It\'s too bad I love the DS2 controller so much, because I don\'t know if I\'ll ever be able to get used to the (IMO) inferior Xbox one (and you might say, "just get a DS2 to Xbox adapter."  But then I won\'t be able to use the microphone while playing online games...Maybe future adapters will have a headphones jack right in the adapter.)

I am still rooting for Sony to sell millions and millions of consoles, but now I want Microsoft to do the same.  I hope more developers jump on the Xbox bandwagon, including more developers from Japan.

Maybe you should consider a DC to tide you over...

They\'re supercheap...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

I would say the XBox...give it some time and you\'ll see what that damn console is cabable of...it\'s the best piece of hardware this generation...hope developers will take full advantage of it !

PS2 is still my favourite console but I\'m not so sure that this won\'t change...

I know it might be  a little too late to change your mind "00seven", but I will agree with "Ashford". If your looking for an inexpensive way to "cool your jets" for the time being, the Dreamcast is an excelent system - if you can get your hands on one. It has a good library of games and it was a pretty cool system.
