Today we received nearly a dozen new screens from Capcom\'s upcoming PlayStation 2 racer \'Auto Modellista.\' Said to be approximately 80% complete and scheduled for release this spring in Japan, the game is poised to take the racing genre in a new direction. According to company representatives, the finished version will boast cell-shaded renditions of vehicles from a dozen auto manufacturers including Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, and Mazda amongst others. Moreover, the game will feature hard-drive compatibility to improve loading times. Auto Modellista will ship on DVD-ROM format for 6,800 yen ($52), take a peek at some new screens below.

Cell shaded racing is somewhat refreshing, but is it for me?

im sorry, but that game is just plain ugly , ill keep my GT3 and just avoid all games that are cel shaded. if i wanted to play a game that looked like that id break out my commodore 64.

God forbid someone try something new , graphics aren\'t everything.  And if you download the videos from IGN you\'ll see it actually looks really good.

It\'s the style of animation that makes this game great, not the cell shading.

The way the cars BLAST around the corners with Anime style.  BURSTS from the ground as they POWER SLIDE around turns.  The action is very exaggerated with Motion "Streaks" and "Flares"

Also the ability to custom paint and put decals and vinyl stickers on your car is a great feature that GT3 must have forgot.

ill waste my $50 on another game, theres plenty out there ive yet to buy and this wont be one of them.

I don\'t know how you can pass judgement yet when its not even out. Sure, its a different looking style, but at least its different, something that isnt out there out.

I think that if the gameplay is good, and you can customise everything, then its a true winner.

well, once again it comes down to opinion... i always love these threads, especially about this game, i think it looks like crap, i dont have anyinterest in the style of it, im into graphics as much as gameplay, if it was all about the gameplay my psx would still be out instead of in the closet.

 if you want it fine, but dont tell me its too early to pass judgement, cuz its not, i dont like the looks of it at all( and i have watched the vids on ign) and am not gonna buy a game i think looks like crap just cuz its fun to play.

 therefore ill stick with gt3 until colin mcrae comes out

 i never threw it around like its "the" opinion, i just get tired of these threads where a guy with an opinion away from the norm gets ganged up on and noone can understand how they can think that when its such a great game.. i have no prob with anyone liking this game, but just dont tell me how i should feel about it.

proof of my point, just cuz i wont buy a game that doesnt have what i think are appealing graphics im stupid, some of you need to check your iq\'s before you throw stuff like that around.

if i wanted to play fun games with subpar graphics i woulda kept my PSX.
