Halo. Video. Lmao.
« on: February 06, 2002, 08:38:24 AM »
Hey all, I\'m back for one post (still up to my neck in lab work) - s\'up EJ, ddaryl, Toxie, sublime et al!

I sure hope this hasn\'t been posted here before

http://rampancy.net/halo_warthog_jump_high.mov

It\'s 23 megabytes so maybe only for the broadband guys but it\'s worth the download. I laughed my ass off....when I eventually get an X-Box & Halo this is the first thing I\'m doing.

Take Care,
Lavan

It makes me want to play Halo all over again.  There aren\'t too many games where you can do stuff like this--it\'s a testiment to Bungie and other great devs that code their games with intelligence and consistency.

This is not unlike Capcom and their Street Fighter series.  The combo system was actually just a result of a balanced game engine and not something they planned on (I\'m talking about the early days).  It was discovered (there were very few; deep jump kick, low sweep was one of them) by clever gamers and it ended up defining the genre.

I\'m not sure Bungie could have coded this in the game purposely and made it as cool as it is.  They coded a solid physics engine and the rest was up to us.
Language services three functions. The first is to
communicate ideas. The second is to conceal ideas. The
third is to conceal the absence of ideas.
