MGS2, Wipeout Fusion-big letdowns
« on: February 06, 2002, 02:38:39 PM »
I\'m really annoyed by the fact that the two biggest PS2 exclusives have been major letdowns-MGS2 and Wipeout Fusion.

MGS2\'s story went crazyily unrealistic and completely stupid after you gained control of Raiden. I haven\'t got a big problem with Raiden, but I do have a problem with the way the story went downhill, and the gameplay to a lesser extent, after you play as him................

Wipeout was just cack-worse handling than previous versions, OK graphics, and very, very average track design....

Oh, well.....At least Jak and Daxter, Silent Hill2 and Grand Turismo3 were good.....

I think MGS2 is a very good game. I enjoyed it tremendously.
Haven\'t tried Wipeout Fusion yet though so can\'t comment.

Jak & Daxter was pretty good even though I usually hate platformers.

Silent Hill 2 was a little letdown but still good.

Disagree about MGS2. Story was melodramatic but the gameplay was excellent

Wipeout I cannot comment on cause I have not played but alot of people are not happy

Now Jak and Daxter was a big disspointmnet. Not one new fresh idea for platform gameplay. And ND tried to hard to appease the japanese in there storyline and character design.

I agree with Ddaryl about MGS2.  The gamplay was solid (pun intended).  Only the story had a problem, and it was only at the very end of the game when it took its nosedive.  You have to give Kojima credit though (spoilers) -- that part where the Colonel was going crazy and the whole game was going crazy was pure genius! :)

I disagree with Ddaryl about J&D though.  Sure, it may not be the most innovative platformer, and it may be a huge treasure hunt (some things that Naughty Dog has said they would fix in the sequel in a recent interview), but it is still a really good game.  I just finished playing through for my second time, and am really starting to like the game.

I haven’t played Wipeout Fusion, but it sounds disappointing. :( Oh well, I’ll just wait for the sequel.

man, I gotta let you know that I thought MGS2 rocked. Yeah the plot was a bit strange, but the game play itself was cool! And the FHM additions were pretty... As for Whipeout Fusion, can\'t say...Have\'nt rented it yet, but I\'m sure I will soon.

I\'ve been playing Wipeout Fusion at my mates house and it doesn\'t really appeal to me...Great graphics but the tracks are all almost identical!
I\'ve got Jak And Daxter and it\'s so addictive and the gameplay is excellent!
MGS2 - Kopking well said...It ain\'t out here yet so like you, us english gamers have to sit here and listen to the foreign gamers who have had it for ages brag on about it!
I\'ve got the playable demo and I\'m playing that until the 8th March!
Ladies, ladies, LADIES!...Jay and Silent Bob are in the hizz-house!

Having heard many negative remarks over Wipeout Fusion, I was rather wary in purchasing it yesterday, but am glad I\'ve bought it as I personally think it\'s great.

Just criticism includes severe slowdown, but having said that, I\'ve only saw it on one course (where you drop from a huge height), and it only happens on the first lap.  The game is also no departure from the previous installments, but since I\'ve enjoyed the series, I see this as no problem.

It\'s also more agressive, and you\'re constantly bombarded with weapons, which gives the game a frenetic pace but can be frustrating.

People have complained about being constant scraping agaisnt the walls, but frankly, judicious use of the air brakes and proper turning negates this \'problem\' and you\'ll spend your time flying through the tracks.

The handling is great too thanks to the analogue pad, the dust effects are excellent (especially when several craft are ahead of you), the game is super smooth, the weapon effects are wonderful and the music suits the game to a tee.

My opinion of course, but I reckon those who enjoy the series will lap (pun intended) this up.

i got mine friday, played it for a bit, then had to go away for a weekend a get real drunk, just got home, been playing it, i like it.

i think the real difference is that b4 there wasnt enough tracks, so to get good at them you had to learn them all, you couldnt come first if you didnt do perfect laps.

i like the league, cos i dont like games you gotta go through check points, as one bad lap and its over, i mean you could do 2 perfect, then muck up, then you could of caught up, but you dont get a chance to.

i like the buying parts for you vehicle.

please not im about 4-6 leagues into the game at the mo, how many tracks are there?
