Marvels "Ultimate" series
« on: February 09, 2002, 10:14:01 PM »
Since I\'m posting threads about what I\'m reading, I think I\'ll open a discussion about this too.

What does everyone thinkl about Marvels "Ulitimate" series?  (Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Spider-man, etc.)

I\'ve just recently picked up the first books (6-7 comics compiled together) of the X-Men and Spider-Man series.

THe Ultimate series is re-telling the stories of their characters from scratch, updating them for the 21st century.  I think it\'s awesome, and am looking forward to reading through the classics that I never had a chance to read before.  Sure it\'s not the original, and they are changing "classic" stories, but myths and legends were/are "updated" all the time, to have more relevance to newer audiances.

Now the stories have references to more recent events, or events that transpired long after the first comics (i.e. the O.J. Simpson trial).

Now I have another collection stealing money from my wallet, but definately one worth every penny.

You read comic books? I read comic books 9 years ago, got out of the habit though, must get back into it one day,..

I love the Uncanny XMen, that is my fav title, Jim Lee was the best artist, but so was Todd.

All time fav comics

Spiderman (todd art work)
Hulk (Todd art work.)
XMen (all titles, and Jim lee art)

I used to draw like crazy, wanted to be a comic book artist,

I never really got into comics in grade school.  I guess I\'m making up for lost time!  :nerd:

The only series I have each comic for was Spider-Man - Maximum Carnage.

Anyways. . .  it\'s a nice break between chapters of the vampire series I\'m currently reading.
