I just bought a JBL speaker package and looked for reviews at HTF then at audioreview.com.  They are great resources but you have to weed out the novices\' reviews from the veterans\'.  Just make sure they know what they are talking about and have previous experience in audio auditioning.

I know there are lots of review sites out there, but I really like this one:

http://www.audioreview.com/reviewscrx.aspx

It has hoardes of reviews written by actual owners of the equipment.  For some of the older models, you can see literally hundreds of reviews for a single model, and really get a sense for what doesn\'t work right, or what is likely to break down in the life of the component.  The weakness is of course that you\'ll find almost nothing on brand new models.  The site is good if you\'re considering buying used equipment, or a model that has been in the market at least six months.

sounddomain.com is good for car audio, they have a nice forum where some really knowledgable people hang out.
