Dust in my ps2!!!
« on: February 14, 2002, 07:17:42 PM »
Ive only had my ps2 for a month now and ive noticed that it is completley infultrated with dust.  All in the front grill, in the cd tray, inside the unit, in the back fan.  I live in a very poor house with very old carpets and i know there is probably alot of dust from that.  I dont want my ps2 to start getting errors, i dont have 140 dollars to send it to sony and never will.  What are some good ways to prevent dust from gettin in, and how do i remove some of the dust that has alreaddy gotten to it.  Thankyou for your help.

If you\'re brave, I say open up the case and hose it down with a can of AirDuster. I meant this as a joke at first, but I don\'t see why it isn\'t possible to put up a filter. Go to your local hardware store and buy some furnace air intake filters. One that\'s about 24x26x1 would work nice. Take it home, cut it apart, and use that as a screen in front of your PS2\'s airvents. Just be sure to take it off and clean the filter often, or it might start clogging up and restricting airflow. Then it\'s bye bye EE, Hello fried out hunk of smoldering plastic.

Take Ddaryl word for it.  Didn\'t you read the instruction that came with the box.  It a notice that if you see any dust in the ventilation, suck it off with a vacuum.  Dont be lazy about vacuuming it and thinking about prevent the dust.  There is no way to prevent dust from getting all over ps2.  But there are ways to clean it.  CD/DVD cleaner, vacuum it.  It safe and easy to do.  If you value your ps2.  then do it.:D

Use a cloth to cover totally your system, but turn it off. It\'s a an easy, cheap and secure solution for the dust in your home.
