News: European Developers talk GCN!
« on: February 15, 2002, 11:49:32 PM »
In the latest issue of CUBE magazine, European developers gave their opinions on the PAL launch details . Thanks to Cloudchaser for the heads up!

Foo Katan, CEO of Bits Corp
"Wow! Great price point, good number of games to get the ball rolling and good news about the RGB and 60hz mode. I think this is very aggressive and should ensure good success in the UK. The sooner the better..."

Mario Aguera, Bits Studios, Die Hard director
"When Nintendo first came to talk to us about Project Dolphin some time ago and one of the things it stated was that it would go for a very aggressive pricing policy on its hardware. With a launch price of" 150 it has certainly done that.Another thingit was keen to emphasise was how much it caredab out the quality of the final television display, so the fact that it is amending the hardware to include an RGB SCART output 60hz display is great news. And some people thought Nintendo didn\'t care about Europe."

Simon Byron, Bastion
"European-gamers-have become-used-to-being disappointed-by-Nintendo - which makes the announcement-even-more astonishing. Obviously-we\'d-all-like-to-see-the-Cube-arrive sooner than May, but apart from that Nintendo has pulled out the stops. Althoughthe launch line-up includes some tat and thereare m ore-than-enough-quality games to keep gamesplayers-seriously entertained, and the inclusion of a 60Hz boot-up mode makes the European GameCube the best in the world - especially-at-that-amazing price. All-in-all, excellent news."

Joe Booth, BAM! Entertainment
"The"150 price point is fantastic news- it instantly makes the console far more accessible to a wider audience. GameCube\'s remarkable technical specifications also make it an incredible platform to develop for.It looks like 2002 is going to be the most exciting console year yet! "

Sounds pretty good, don\'t you think? It looks like the GameCube is going to get quite some support from the European developers! All-in-all, excellent news...

NGC is the abbriviation to the short lived Neo Geo Color. Though right now it doesn\'t really care anymore, a few people still consider NGC to be Neo Geo Color. The other reason, from what I have heard, NGC is also copyrighted to Neo Geo Pocket, which mean that that the Gamecube will have to be GCN. Not sure about the copyright thing so, take this as you will.

Before I go, about the article...can\'t deny that Nintendo for once did something that is pretty good. Release their system at a great price, and a decent launch lineup (okay, not sure about the latter, but when the UK is usaully screwed by companies, 150 pounds is pretty damn good especially when you compare the PS2 launch prise over there [300 pounds] and the Xbox luanch price [again, 300 pounds]).
