So I finally gave in to PS2...

I finally got my PS2...never thought I would but I did.   I saw that Final Fantasy X commercial for the gazillioneth time and gave in...that and all the big titles I\'m getting for Xbox are coming out much later than I thought (Brute Force, Unreal, Sega GT, Turok, Vexx, Panzer Dragoon, Project Ego, Duality...the list goes on and on, point is they don\'t come out till this fall :( )

Anyway, one of my favorite genre\'s is the RPG...since I can\'t play FFX, XI, or XII on any other system it was inevidable.  That and I can play all the older RPGs that I missed out on since I didn\'t own a PS...

I\'m definetely buying FF IX.  I played through VII and VIII(bah!) when my friend let me borrow his PS...

Other than that, I\'m thinking about Chrono Cross, Star Ocean, Saga Frontier, Final Fantasy Anthology, Vagrant Story, Threads of Fate, and Legend Of Mana.  Please give me some opinions on the games I listed or if you have some recommendations, I\'d love to hear them...

Well you mentioned all RPG\'s but I must mention another great PSX game, Tenchu of course.  A great game thats still fun now.  Oh and Xenogears is a great RPG.

I\'ll look in to Tenchu and see what it is...thanks.

And about the RPG\'s, what I\'m really looking for are people\'s opinoins on the games and possibly some insights as to what the battle systems are like, are the long, difficult, how many characters do you get...things of that nature.

If you like FPS then i recomend medal of honor and medal of honor underground.  oh yeah check out vagrant story also. IMO but all are excelent games

Well, as far as Playstation games go, I can recommend a whole slew of superb ones, RPG\'s included.  Say so if you want me to whip out a list of no less than 20 great must own titles.

For the PS2 though... I know MGS is not your thing, but like everyone else on this board I highly recommend Grand Theft Auto 3.  Just play it for 10 minutes and I guarantee you will love it, all of it.

One of my fav PS1 games is Final Fantasy Tactics and Vandal Hearts.  Those games rok.

Well, I\'ll be extremely busy over the next few days with school and all (I\'m taking 2 30 hour class in 7 days :eek:...but I will give all the games you all have recommended a try when I\'m done...

FF:Tactics is a very good RPG.  And I heard that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was an awesome game if you can find it (unfortunately, I missed out on it :()  It\'s not an RPG, but if you\'re into those kinds of games you will love it.

anyway i would say the must have rpgs from psx are

FFIX - Chrono Cross - Star Ocean 2 - Lunar 1&2 Complete - Xenogears and Vagarant Story

the others you listed are good but not the best of the best

those up there will keep you quite busy too
