Barry doesnt look particularly good, his clothes have been through the wash a few too many times..

SonyFan declared war on Altered and is trying to take over his spot as the Sega-Know-It-All...

:p
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

What’s up buddy old pal? How’s it going? I’ve just been playing my PS2 for the past two weeks , no sleep, no food, no nothing, only PS2, GTA3, FFX, GT3, and Metal Gear 2. I’m tired, worn-out, pooped, weary, fatigued, and exhausted but it was all worth it, I beat every single one of my games this month. Man, is I cool or what? Any way enough about me, how about you?
Man.. if BookerT lit a fart during a Spinner-oony.. it truely would be the most electrifying move ever..

That\'s already been proven. Sega\'s numbers are concervitive, like the NGC\'s. They reflect the final product, not the maximum it can pump out. Software shortcuts and other programming tricks have upped that number from Sega\'s original estimate. I think it was Ferrari 355 that broke the 5 million mark... but I\'m not sure.

Yeah thats pretty good. Your right about the textures too, pretty damn good i must say. But the old man on ps2 had "way" more animated wrinkles. Plus shenmue was not a tech preview for DC if i remember correctly so in comparison i think the ps2 fogie is about tied with the shenmue guy if not better.

Exactly, I\'m sure that if it was just a head and no shoulders & backgrounds they could have made it look a lot more impressive too. Still not as many polys as went into the Square old man.. but enough to look quite a bit more detailed than what is in the pic I showed. One weak point that really stands out is the mouth. Squares old guy had teeth and a fully formed mouth.. the Shenmue old man has a rounded cavity textured with the inside of a mouth and a flat line of polygons textured with teeth. Still looks damned impressive from a slight distance, but not on par with what Square produced.

Guess I overexaggerated a bit in my first comment.. Sorry. It\'s been awhile since I seen the old man demo. What\'s really striking about the Shenmue faces is that when you get really close up you can see details that you can\'t from far away. Little things like small indents, imperfections, capilaries... it\'s all there. If anything, I think they both serve as an excellent demonstration of the differences between both systems.

Anyhow, the textures are pretty washed out and there\'s a few jaggies. Not what I would have expected from the NGC. Hopefully these are still just early shots and don\'t reflect the final product.

yeah this is because the shot is taken straight from the lightwave layout (program to render in) I have lightwave and I can tell you that its very normal for character models to have dull textures and lots of jaggies. This is done to save memory useage, when rendering the textures get more crisp and colors brighter

Hehehehe.

But its a bad pic. I mean, look at the quality. Shenmue is way more impressive.

Soul Calibur on DC had better facials.

It looks like they have tried to put photographic textures on him. Like, its trying to render an actual photo.

I much prefer the clean textured look.
