Was surprisingly not useless research on xbox japaneese sales
« on: February 23, 2002, 08:31:53 PM »
I took this link

http://www.excite.co.jp/world/url/?wb_url=http%3A%2F%2Fheadlines.yahoo.co.jp%2Franking%2Fori%2Fgame%2Fgame_d.html&wb_lp=JAEN&wb_dis=2

And did some research

I obviously can only compare some data,
but there is one easy part I can compare

Based on data from http://www.dengekionline.com

36,766 copies of Samuri were sold from 2-11/2-17
Samuri beat JSRF and Project Gotham:World Street Racer launch day sales :p

Obviously Samuri won\'t sell near 25k this week... (its the 3rd week the game has been out)
So in other words, JSRF failed to sell 25k on launch day
in fact.. beacuse we are comparing it to a weeks worth of Samuri sales.. it probably sold closer to 7k

Other then that, I have no clue what DOA3 or Onimusha Port did..
its pretty sad in itself that a port outsold JSRF.
We will have to wait till famitsu or dengenki update with that data..

Oddly enough M$ has yet to release a press statement regarding the xbox launch.. i\'m sorta wondering if they are afraid to or have no good news to annouce.

Actually, I find the information quite interesting.

The sales are doing better than expected.

Has M$ taken control on the japanese economy too? Oh god let\'s hope not.

I really want to know if the people over in Japan are really buying into MS.

When Microsoft monopolizes the gaming industry I will lock myself in a room with my mario doll and wait for the end of the world.

I don\'t mind them too much now but I\'m afraid things may look like the PC or browser market in a couple years.

Considering the amount of games and variety alone, I thought that the Xbox\'s launch would trounce the GCN\'s.

I mean.. 3 games (GCN) versus 10+ at launch shouldn\'t be too difficult of a "fight". But I guess it was!

It\'s good to see that games like Animal Forest + and Animal Leader are selling well. It goes to show you that graphics aren\'t everything to Japanese gamers.. gameplay plays a much bigger role for those people.

Yep. Gameplay over graphics. It seems to me Japanese gamers are more matured and doesn\'t simply go ga-ga over high-polygons bouncy breasts...hee-hee.

Glad to know there\'s still one country on earth that rejects "Illegal Operation Error". LOL.

Ok, you guys are right, things did turn out for the worst.

M$ just lost a lot of money, but it\'s not like they could have made better use of it.
