Those were the good old days!
« on: February 26, 2002, 08:19:48 AM »
I was sitting here just thinking back to the days when parachute pants and leg warmers were hip on the scene. I also remember why I was glad to see them go...but that’s beside the point. I wonder how many of you guys and gals lived back in the day and were old enough to experience a little ditty called "break dancing".

Oh yeah baby, I could never say that I was an expert, but I did know how to cut a mean rug. I would venture to guess that there are some old schoolers out there that attempted to do the "centipede" and got a pinch on their little who-ha! The worm was a funny little move too.

Was anybody a dancing king or queen? I hope so.:thepimp:

I\'m talking about those ugly pants that had the "slippery when wet" road sign patched onto the back pocket. They always came in multiple bright colors and were baggy and made of real cheap material.

I never got into that.  I think I was in 7th grade when that got huge.  My buddies all had their own card board boxes that they cut up to do break dancing on their driveways.  Man, that was sad.  I didn\'t do it, not cause I didn\'t want to, but I sucked.  I couldn\'t figure out how those people kept spinning.

Parachutte pants were ridiculous.  I never got into that, but I remember how loud it was changing classes when it got big.
I wear a necklace now because I like to know when I\'m upside down.

Guilty as charged.

I got pretty good at it as well. I believe that my father has video evidence somewhere, I guess I should scour his basement for it next time I go over.

My friends and I didn\'t follow the mainstream popularity of break-dancing, and continued to "break" even when it became passe. Remember the movies "Breakin" and "Breakin 2, the Electric Boogaloo"?
For shame if you do.;)

Thankfully Metallica\'s "Master of Puppets"  was released and I became interested in long-hair, leather jackets, and girls with "Harley" purses.   But that only lasted for a couple of years.

Shoot man, that movie has got to be on DVD. Gotta find it and gotta get it. I like getting some of the movies that helped define who I am today.

My brother and I used to tape a bunch of cardboard to the garage floor and practice our moves after school. Had to impress the ladies you know! Chicks dig the dance moves man, you gotta know this?!

I used to break a little bit. Wasnt all that fancy. We had our own crew and all.. STN Second To None..we were also a graf. crew as well. The beauty about it was, if ppl had a beef, fighting was rarely and option..guns and knives?? not even thought of, we fought on cardborad :D
