I\'m going to dispel one fallacy once and for all:
If my name doesn\'t appear at the top of the page as one of the moderators for this forum, then I do not have moderator capabilities in that forum. It\'s really simple, I mod Console Debate, MGS2, FFX, and the Main Forum. Nothing more, nothing less. This belief that I am some corporate sell-out who opresses opinions is completely false, especially in this forum. These comments are not directed at you luckee, I\'m simply stating them so that way others are not threatened to post what they wish all because I make a simple request.
Actually, to be frank..whats so different from that pic and my pic of Ike Turner( well known for beating his wife Tina Turner)
I actually didn\'t recognize that he was Ike Turner, but now that I know who it is, I find it offensive as well, but I am a bit biased in favor of Dale Earnhardt so seeing that picture with that quote strikes a firmer cord with me than the Ike picture. Regardless, now I\'d appreciate it if both pictures were removed.
All in all, its still humor...nothing more..nothing less.. also no attempt to belittle him. For people that are tight arsed, I jut simply say, it is no way an attack at Big "E".
I don\'t support pictures or posts that belittle someone in death that I find to be a good person in life. Dale Earnhardt was a sportsman who died doing what he loved and there is no shame in that, but to see his name slandered in some poor attempt at humor baffles me. I\'m sure you can find hundreds of other pictures on the Internet depicting the same corny and tasteless jokes, but I can only respond to what I see at the time. I saw this, I became offended, I made a simple request.
Humor is fine so long as its kept within limits. I\'d feel the same way about a racist joke being posted on the wall at my college. Sure, I may laugh, just as I laughed at this, but I still find it offensive regardless. Just like when someone calls me a cracker... It\'s no big deal, I can take it, but some things I won\'t stand for. That\'s just my opinion though and that\'s why I made the request.
Ryu, for the reasoning above, I respectfully refuse to delete the post. I honestly don\'t see the big deal since Im not posting it in a negative manner. I seen far worse words in this forum without a person being told to delete it, so I ask for the same treatment.
I didn\'t see those other posts. I\'d give you the same treatment if I passed over those without saying a word, but frankly, I don\'t remember seeing them. However, we\'re talking about your post and what I have seen, not what others have done. It\'s not like I\'m some gustapo trying to supress humor, far from it. I just don\'t see what\'s so funny about your pictures. You\'re not being made an example of, I just take offense to those pictures, that\'s why I asked for you to get rid of them.
I just ask that you read this with an open mind and at least attempt to see my point. The only thing I can say is, do with the post as you see fit, since I meant no disrespect anywhere in this post.
I know you didn\'t mean any disrespect, but I take offense from that picture(s) regardless. I don\'t have control over what gets deleted and what doesn\'t, that is why I asked. Civil, Simple. You don\'t want to delete it, whatever, I still take offense from it.
