Yeah, I feel really bad for bono and his 10 houses, porsches, planes, etc..  My downloading a song or two sure has affected him.

The propblem with MP3\'s and file sharing and digital copies is that it isn\'t the big bands that are effected

its the small bands that are struggling or just trying to make it in the industry

Lots of bands out there may be lucky to get 1 hit, and if th emajority of people choose to get a digital copy instead of purchasing it that band may cease to exist do to bankruptcy

there definitely needs to be some sort of copyright protection

but on the other hand I sure would be alot more willing to buy more CD\'s if they we\'re $9.99

Fortunately all the music I really love comes from Jam bands who tour alot and encourage Fans to tape there shows

If a group would put more than one song on a CD worth buying then I would be more willing to buy it.

I think MP3s are great because they don\'t make me pay 15 bucks for what ends up being one song I like on a disc.

Is it RIAA?  Or is it NARAS?

Nevermind, I see who RIAA is....   NARAS is who does the grammys and that is the organization that Michael Green heads and pays himself 2 million a year.  I love non profit organizations.

Here is the info on his speach if you missed it.

I think it was ANUS...

Dealing with a record label in past years, I believe it\'s much better to do it yourself. When a record label signs you, it\'s like slavery. With the advent of the internet and home recording, I can get a bigger audience than having someone tell me how my music should sound and where we should play...

Besides, you\'d have to be crazy to want to make a career out of music today. I would never want that life. The biggest thing I ever did was play with Weezer & the goo goo dolls in front of like 11,000 people, and I\'m happy. (all those bands were tools anyway, with the exception of Sloan.)

Isnt supposed to be about the music and the money is a perk for being an artist..

I have to disagree with ddaryl about file sharing hurting the smaller artists.  It actually would help them in my opinion.  Its an excellent way to get their music out to be known.  At any rate its the RIAA losing money not the artists.  They over charge for CDs, they underpay good artists.  Its just another huge ass company lining their pockets with gold..

After what I say last night I really never want to buy a cd again.  But I will, I will support the artists that I think deserve it.

This country is getting out of control with money.  File sharing and the internet though are just the natural evolution of things to keep people like the RIAA in check....

I do feel bad though, I don\'t think Cash fool money is not going to be able to get another platinum tooth because of napster, and its JUST NOT RIGHT..  Why does the RIAA get some my press time, where was the other argument?  BS if you ask me, any intelligent person will realize that he was speaking out the other hole is his body...

Just curious, but how does the RIAA plan to prove they are losing money?  Is there a trend of slumping music sales?  If there is, how do they know it\'s mp3s and not lack of talent.  So in the end it doesn\'t matter, if the RIAA thinks they are not getting their way they will pout.
