Time To Quit My Job.
« on: March 03, 2002, 06:52:19 AM »
Well last year I posted how I was going through some things and how I had to leave school. Most of you probally don\'t even remember. But I am happy to say that I am going back. Things have been on the up and I am going back full-time. So it\'s back to the dorms for me. I am going to start spring.

So looks likes things are back on track.

I don\'t know, I don\'t view factory work as a "dead-in" job. I mean, you can get promoted and so on, but you won\'t have the "sucess" that you would with other jobs. I guess it just depends on what you want out of life. I am personally content doin\' my factory work and getting trained for different machinery and so on. I don\'t need[ /i] to go to college at this time and have no desire to. If I went to college, I\'d have to move off, because the job market for anything computer related here (KY) is extremely bad, which I am not ready for and maybe never goin\' to be ready for. I actually enjoy the country instead of the city...

Erm, I guess that just turned into a personal manifesto, eh?
:D

Good luck, though.
;)

What are you goin\' to major in?

Thanks guys for the encouragement guys I am very thankful. And LIC sure you can move up working in a factory from production to team leader. Then on to supervisor I have seen ppl do it. But I live in MI and with automotive industry down and layoffs everywhere. I went from making 12$ and hour  on the path to making 20$ and hour to 8$ ouch!!!!! And most production jobs only pay 8 dollars and they are far out down here. And the commute is not worth the pay.

But that is not the half of it.  All the manufactoring jobs down here are mostly with tempt services now. So your always a tempt worker. So your going from one tempt job to the next. It\'s a pain and I am just fed up with it . I don\'t know how it is where you live but it\'s tough in( MI) right now. I mean you go to a tempt service and there is like 300 ppl trying to get the same job. It\'s tough so I am sick of this type of pay and work. No matter how hard you work they still let you go and it on to the next tempt job. And you get 20 minute lunch periods I am just sick of dead beat jobs. That the way I see them for me.

And I refuse to leach off of my parents. I want to do everything for myself on my own. So it\'s back to school for me. Thanks again guys

See, where I work, regular pay starts out at $9 and then onto $10 - which is extremely good pay for where I live, infact it is one of the top paying places. The way the temporary agency works is, they put you in for six months and if you have good attendance and good evaulations, you get hired on full time.
We get more than 20 mintue lunch breaks also, infact we get 30 mintue breaks every hour \'n\' half and then a 30 mintue lunch break.

I understand what you are saying though and I firmly believe that different jobs for different people. It all depends on what you want out of life. I personally could never work a 9-5 job, five days a week. So, where I work, we do 12 hour shifts , three days a week. It works out perfect for me and the pay is plenty for what I need.
