Futurama comes to PS2 (and Xbox)

SCi has signed the game publishing rights to Futurama, the highly successful Twentieth Century Fox TV series by Matt Groening, the multi-Emmy award winning writer and designer behind The Simpsons.
Futurama is to be published on PlayStation 2, Xbox and Game Cube sometime in 2003. SCi has signed the worldwide rights to the game outside North America. Fox Interactive will publish the game in North American markets.

The game is being developed by Swedish-based developer, UDS, whose last title, World’s Scariest Police Chases, was released on Playstation to critical acclaim late last year. Futurama is a 3D action adventure set in the stunning sci-fi universe of the TV series. The player can take on the role of the three main characters, Fry, Bender and Leila, as their adventure takes them from Planet Express right around the galaxy.

The game, which is well into development, features a strong storyline written by the TV show’s scriptwriter and producer, J. Stewart Burns. Matt Groening has been heavily involved with the game from its conception. The game will feature most of the original voice artists from all the major territories. It features a custom-made cartoon rendering engine that captures the visual look and feel of the Futurama TV series. This, combined with the authenticity that the show\'s creator, writers and voice talent bring, means that the game will be as close as possible to playing real episodes from the show.

I hope that they don\'t dumb it down too much, adult humor and jokes are what makes the show so good.  I get the feeling though, that this will probably end up another standard try-to-make-money-with-the-title game.  Just like (most of) the Simpsons games did before.

I also hope it ISN\'T celshaded.  That style can look good, but mostly it bugs me.

Games based on cartoons can and very often should be cell shaded as it looks more like the original cartoon.

I love futurama and hope they do the series justice more than previous attempts with the simpsons games. Simpsons wrestling has to do down as one of the worst games and blatant cash-ins of all time.

True and Road Rage was good for a few days but then got boring and repetitive...
They are also releasing "The Simpsons Skateboarding" this summer...
What a blatant cash in!
Futurama will be a cel shaded platormer I reckon and I think you should have different objectives whilst working for planet express as different characters...
Lets wait and see, I heard about this not long since and if the adult humour is in there then it should be good...
Ladies, ladies, LADIES!...Jay and Silent Bob are in the hizz-house!
