Some interesting proof of evolution.
« on: March 04, 2002, 11:34:14 PM »
We have had very interesting threads about religion, GOD and evolution. Last night there was a interesting documentary about Charles Darwin and his theory about evolution. Some interesting proof of evolution was presented in a very good way. Hopefully this will bring some light to some of you and make it easier to understand that evolution is something that is for real.
The proof builds on Darwins theory of natural selection witch means that the organism that is most adapted to the enviroment will dominate.
The HIV virus is a very interesting virus in a evolutionery way. We all know that there exists medicins that can stop the HIV virus from spreading so fast in the body. The problem is that the medicne only works for some months and then you have to take another medicine. Why is this so? The HIV virus evolves in accordance with C.D theory of natural selection. A patient that has the HIV virus has 2 different viruses. The dominating HIV (A) virus and another virus HIV (B). When we use medicine on a patient with HIV (A), the medicine kills the A virus but when we do this the B virus becomes the dominating virus because B is now the most adapted virus to the body. So after a couple of month the medicine has now killed almost every A virus but the patient becomes infected again because the medicine doesn´t work on virus B that has now becomed the dominating virus because it is more suitible for the host. Now we have to use 2 medicines to keep the patient alive. One to fight the A virus and one to fight the B virus but when we use this 2 medicines a third virus becomes dominating in the body (A mutated version of the A virus that survided the first medicine), a.s.o Today we have 16 medicines to fight HIV. But when we come to mutation 17 there is nothing to stop the virus. We have actually created new viruses.
Back in 1997 a young scientist came up with a very interesting theory. He based his theory on natural selection and thought that if A is the most adapted virus to live in a human body and B is the most adapted virus to live in the body when the body has been treaten with medicine why not stop with medicine when virus B has becomed the dominating virus in the body. If we do this the natural selection would make the A virus the dominating virus again because it is the most adpted virus for a body that is not treaten with medicine. So a patient that had used all 14 medicines (back in 1997) bought this concept and stopped using medicine. After 6 weeks they did a test on him and they did now belive the results. Virus A was now the dominating virus again!!! So now they could use the original medicine on the patient again.
So when the B virus becomes the dominating virus after the medicine has almost eliminated the A virus we stop using medicine on the patient. The new enviroment in the body after using medicine is more  suitible for the B virus but if we stop using medicine the A virus is the most siutible virus and will eliminate the B virus that is not suitible for the enviroment.
This people is true evolution!!!!
If this can not prove evolution nothing can!!!
This is a obviously proof of evolution.

Note: this was just one of many proofs that was presented in the ducumentary.

Any thoughts on this people???

Most viruses evolve anyway. That\'s why it\'s called a virus. Just like a cold. You never get the same cold twice.

This proves natural selection and immediate mutation of microscopic organisms, not full-scale evolution.  Proof of that will take centuries of documentation and comparason.

darwin will always be a fraud in my eyes

he devoted his entire life to the theory of evolution over creation and then threw it all away by turning to god on his deathbed

i dont call that fear, i call it recognition

anyways, HIV is a government created population control method if you ask me

It\'s good to see that hard earned money is being spent on trying to prove how we got here instead of where we are going.

Our origin is good to understand, but could you imagine what it would be like if we spent more money on our future.

or you could of gone for the more easier one about the moths.

in uk, most moths were white, when the industrial evoulution came, most thing got covered in soot( as coal was burnt) mow you hardly see white moths, as black one could hide better, when siiting on soot/dust covered walls etc.

http://www2.lucidcafe.com/lucidcafe/library/96feb/darwin.html

It has been supposed that Darwin renounced evolution and converted to Christianity on his deathbed. Shortly after his death, a Lady Hope claimed she visited Darwin at his deathbed, and witnessed the renunciation. Her story was printed in a Boston newspaper and subsequently spread. Lady Hope\'s story was refuted by Darwin\'s daughter Henrietta who stated, "I was present at his deathbed ... He never recanted any of his scientific views, either then or earlier."

I believe that as well MM. How do you not know that there is indeed a cure for this? Go look at the cost for treatment. I believe they have found a cure for it. How much money do they get for research? Sad thing to think about, but like you said it\'s evolution.

Well, what I mostly wanted to show was:

It has been supposed that Darwin renounced evolution and converted to Christianity on his deathbed. Shortly after his death, a Lady Hope claimed she visited Darwin at his deathbed, and witnessed the renunciation. Her story was printed in a Boston newspaper and subsequently spread.

I have never heard of this with Darwin and chrisitnanity before, that\'s why I checked the web for some info.

Do a search and you\'ll find tons of sites on the subject. I read a few and it looks like this Lady Hope is a hoax.

I guess that lady was some crazy, fanatic religous person.

This is interesting. I believe Darwins theory. So much evidence. I have yet to read his "Origins of Species" (I\'m planning on buying it soon though). Evolution is something to really ponder. Where did we come from? How did we originate? I ponder this everyday.
