What I am working on (Alert, 131k D/L)
« on: March 06, 2002, 10:51:06 AM »
I just wanted to show you guys what we are working on for my show.  It\'s pretty cool.  It feels like you are inside a blueprint.  Then the motor starts to build up.  This is all in 8 seconds.  There is a second half that we still have to do that is 12 seconds long, but it all looks real nice.

I wear a necklace now because I like to know when I\'m upside down.

Who does the 3-D animation, or is it stock?
What exactly do you do as a producer?  Concept?  editing?
Just let me know what an average day of work is for you.

(I see you in here a lot during  the day...  must be an easy job, like mine.)

I am in development stages of the show right now so I am mostly just writing and structuring the show on the computer all day.  That\'s why i check in here every couple hours to give my brain a break.  Because I certainly don\'t need it in here.

I don\'t do all this stuff, I am the ideas guy.  I wanted to feel like we are in a blueprint.  I have an incredible animator doing the dirty work.  He can build anything.  Weather it\'s an animal, a boat, car, anything.  He does great work.  He actually wants to do a lot more with this thing, but I am holding him back a little bit.

The second half will be real neat too.  We are going to have video in a few film strips rolling while a car is being built in the background.  I\'ll show you some stills when we get some more done.

The show you saw was Crank and Chrome.  Unless of course you are just fooling around.

But Crank and Chrome was another open I did with the same graphics guy.  That was full animation though.  Most was done in 3D, but then he used a plug in to make it all look like cell animation.

I joke with them all the time.  I told them I got the sign back and they were out of U\'s.  I told them an A would do just fine.

Oh!  Crank and Chrome, that\'s right.  Funny how they look the same, seeing how you\'re working/worked on both of them!

PLease tell me they arent hosting this show too, I hate those guys for some reason. I prefer Mike and Dean from Popular Hotrodding MagTV and the guys from HPTV.

Hehe, the "Actors"  from the other shows.  Those guys know nothing about cars compared to Sam and Dave.  They are fed just about everything and they do absolutely nothing on their show in the way of actually working on the cars.  It\'s just one big show and tell of products, kind of like home shopping.  Sam and Dave at least do the work.

Having spent a lot of time building up a base of connections in the hot rod building hobby of mine, I can appreciate a show where the guys really know their chit. It can seem the same difference as going to a shop that specializes in nothing but hot rods vs. going to your local PepBoys or Autozone. (Not that those are terrible stores)
