Ace\'s New Wheels
« on: March 07, 2002, 05:18:45 AM »

Just bought a Mustang GT convertible. This car has been on my wish list for a while. I could not pass up this baby. It is a 2000 with only 4400 miles. The owner of the car only used a in the summer and garaged it during the winter.  Looks like he never sat on the leather seats.

Now I have to decide on what mods I want to do.

Nice ride man. As for the mods, you can never go wrong with Nitrous. A friend of mine has a GT with Nitrous and he smokes guys with Mustang Cobras. If you want cheap horsepower, Nitrous is a sure thing.

Keep us posted on what you end up doing to the beauty.:D

First, learn your driving skill limit on this particular car. It\'s a RWD torque monster and drives completely different from most cars. The first mods I\'d do is to make this drag racer TURN better! IE suspensions.

There are plenty of mods for power later. But learning to control this horse is more important. Also, go to an autocross event. This is where you\'ll learn more about your driving skills, the car\'s limitations....and you\'ll also become a better driver.

And drive carefully.

Thanks project86!

I am looking forward to some warmer weather. First thing I am going to do is put a K&N air filter.

I wish I could leave my office and go work on it now, but now I need more cash than ever.

You\'re right about that. I am still getting used of the power of this car. I have only driven it a couple of times. I just registered it yesterday.

It\'s a little different than my old clunker.

kirath,

The first link is not coming up for me.

Boy, when I was a little younger the big place for racing near me was Lynn Marsh Road. It\'s a long straight away but it can be dangerous. There\'s a lot of telephone poles with memorials on them.

More videos would be cool.

Hi ##RaCeR##,

I paid $19,650. I did a lot of research and this car could have sold for about $21,500.

I think I did pretty well considering the very low miles and the mint  condition of the car.

Do you ever go up to NE Dragway. I\'m thinking of heading up there this summer.

No matter what when you go into a car dealership you are going to be screwed right up the pooper.  The object is to limit the penetration.

Looks like a nice car.

What\'s that white crap on the ground?

Ah, 68 degrees and sunny......:D

You can never go wrong with nitrous?!?!?

Project are you on crack??

NOS will **** your car over sideways.

The only place you should ever use nitrous is on the race track, nitrous are very hazardous towards your engine, it will take away from the life of your car in a big way!

Ace, don\'t go with nitrous.

Yeah, I agree.  Don\'t do the ntirous thing.  Do the new K&N.  Get a better exhaust.  Re chip the thing.  Then open that puppy up and put a roller cam in the thing.

If you put nitrous on your car, you need to know the limits as to how much HP you want to gain. You don\'t have to go with a full 300-hp kit. You can go light and get yourself a 75-hp kit, maybe even a 100-hp kit.

The engine in my car has been blueprinted and balanced. The Guys down at the shop that built it for me said that I could go with a 200-hp kit. That would take me to a total boost level of over 600 hp! I\'m just glad I got some frame rails welded on the car.

Well anyway, if you don\'t want to get your a$$ smoked by some rice rocket, you better do something. Unless of course you don\'t intend on doing any street racing.;)

I\'ll probably go with a little more modest mods than nitrous.

I think the next mod after the air filter might be new gears.

It might be in the 60s around here tomorrow . Maybe I\'ll drop the top for a while. :D

Thanks!
