Square Finally OFFICIALLY Admits It Is Developing Games For Nintendo Consoles

Sony lets Square release some old ports, plus maybe FFXI (Sony makes money of it anyways, remember that 20% thingy?) so people will go for GC instead of Xbox for Online games..

PS2 main threat on the Onlinemarket is the Xbox.

Hehe, yeah. It just happens that we only criticize Nintendo and Microsoft around here. No problem.

Anyways.. as long as Square brings some RPG\'s (or strategy games ala FF Tactics) to GCN, I\'m happy.

Let\'s see, we have the Sony online conference call, followed by this information about Square on Nintendo.  Now, given the amount of stock Sony owns in Square they obviously knew about this move (if not outright encouraged it).  Sony seems to be trying to give the Xbox a big punch into an early grave, particularly in Japan where this news could have the most affect.  Mainly because Nintendo doesn\'t have the same online "in the living room" plans that Sony and M$ are touting.

Funny. Xbox fanboys are, at least first, happy about this news. Somehow a blow to Sony (even though Sony does own 20% of the stock and would have known about this move [not to mention profit from it]) which is slightly understandable if you are one of those fanboys who believe that exclusitivity determines systems success. Now that they are coming around to the fact that this doesn\'t mean that Square is going to the Xbox, and this could hurt the Xbox sales in Japan...then they will be pissed. Right now, they haven\'t seen that fact yet.

Here is what I think is going on.. yes, it may sound a little bias (I do like nintendo, do remember that)

The game that will be on the GBA/NGC is susposedly Final Fantasy Unlimted (based on the cartoon series)

1.) Its by one of my unfavorite directors- Akitoshi Kawazu, who worked on Legend of Mana and SaGa for Square. I think most people would agree that both series.. especially Legend of Mana (not secret of mana) was horrible!
2.) The team itself making it is not even square.. only the director is from square
3.) Square wanted to released old FF\'s on GBA, but needed an exclusive title (suposedly)
4.) Square sacrificed their crappiest directer to make the exclusive game (not really a sacrifice )... which actually won\'t cost them anything beacuse nintendo is PAYING for it with their fund
5.) Square wins, Sony wins (beacuse sony owns 20% of square)

Square AND Sony use nintendo and nintendo can\'t do a thing about it cause they need to do something to get people to go to the console.. cause things are not looking good for it right now

Hehe! Sony gets some money out of this too! I mean, they own 20% of Square! And it\'s not like GC is gonna be any threat to PS2!

Hell...it\'s a win win situation.

If this jumps the Nintendo userbase up another 4 million, more power to them (but we all know that the GBA will boost another 20 million thanks to this news alone).  4 million more users for the GCN, just another 15 million to go and they\'ll be at where Sony is now.

that\'s cos there is nothing to critisize about Sony  

watch us jump all over similar news if something like this was to happen to Sony.. difference is, it wouldnt be as much as a \'difference maker\' in Sony\'s overall position of the console war and would be of less interest.. hence, we dont critisize it quite so much

I\'ve never enjoyed a Square game, and I own all three systems. All this news does is impact an industry full of money-hungry corporations. Do I have any reason to care?

I want some classic SNES RPGS RELIVED!!!!
