No more \'M\' rated games for Georgia minors?

Four lawmakers in Georgia have decided to take action against the violence they feel is attributed to video games. A new law is being considered in Georgia which, if passed, would make selling M Rated video games to minors a misdemeanor. The bill is being called the Violent Video Game Protection Act.

That\'s not too bad, I suppose.  I\'m 22, so what do I care, and I dont\' live in Georgia.  I just hope they don\'t go as far as Australia did, and start banning certain games because of their content.

Well thats how it is down here in Texas also. Neyone under 17 cant buy a game with a mature rating, only way you\'ll get a game is if u have someone else buy it I guess.

well it already happens in k, but onlywith oficially raed games, e.g gta is 15, state of emergency is 18. most games dont have  age on them, ty have a elspa rating, but i sorta tells you wat age its aimed for, but you can by one no matter what the rating is. only went it got th rating on it isit illegal for someone younger to buy i!!  but i mean its a bit pointless, they just get there mums t buy i..gta 3 is a example, parents are kicking a fuss up as its so violent, but they are the ones that bought there kids the gme, andtook no notice of the rating.

They will start to blame books.
Right now I can go into the library and get Mein Kampf, or the Prince, or the story of "O".
The communist manifesto.
**** like that.
Thats probably what theyll blame next.

Don\'t mean to be pedantic but GTA 3 is an 18. :p

I actually don\'t mind the BBFC, its not like they have cut anything out of GTA 3 over here. Also my only gripe with them was to make the blood green in carmegdon rather than red but that could be fixed with a patch.

I agree that a five year old shouldnt be playing max payne, but by the time you reach twelve, you know the difference between right and wrong, America is becoming to censored, that is the one thing that pisses me off about the govt. They are trying to control us what we watch what do and when we do it, is ridiculous. I was watching freddy krugger when i was three and haven\'t killed a single person with a glove of strapped on knives.

If lawmakers want to make laws like this, then more power to them. Maybe then people will realize that videogames can be real grown-up entertainment and not just kiddie toys. And if we have any underage Georgians in here, all I can say is TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!

Good. I agree with strictly enforcing the ratings system, if for nothing else than a "Cover your own A$$" policy. If violent games are kept from falling into the hands of children, then the gov\'t can\'t blame the videogame industry. The only ones left to blame are the cashiers who sell the game to children. They might pitch a bi*ch once in awhile about marketing violence to children, but that\'s a whole lot better than banning these games outright.

They will NEVER blame the parents. After all, those parents are the ones who vote them into office in order to fight these imaginary boogie men who\'s out to corrupt their children.
