Gran Turismo 4 Details:
« on: March 12, 2002, 12:25:47 AM »
As expected, Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi made an appearance at the \'Tokyo Amlux Auto Salon\' last weekend in Japan. At the event, Yamauchi-san unveiled a new version of Gran Turismo developed exclusively for Toyota, answered questions from the assembled crowd, and revealed preliminary details regarding his next project, Gran Turismo 4.

To begin, Yamauchi-san provided some background on his massively popular racing series. Specifically, he applauded Toyota of their continued support. In his own words, he said, \'Toyota was one of only three or four companies which were immediately supportive of the Gran Turismo series.\' As a sign of his gratitude, Yamauchi-san unveiled a special version of Gran Turismo dubbed \'Amlux\' which features all Toyota vehicles and will be on display exclusively at the Amlux dealership in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.

Continuing, Yamauchi-san demonstrated \'Gran Turismo Concept,\' a mini-sequel in the series featuring all concept cars available for the PlayStation 2. As he raced around the Route 246 course, Yamauchi-san explained the delicate nature of vehicle modeling and attention to detail in designing the backgrounds. More intriguing however, he went on to talk about the next chapter in the series, Gran Turismo 4.

Specifically, Yamauchi-san said development was still relatively early. Nevertheless, he reaffirmed plans to include full network support. Scheduled for release in 2003, the game will allow players to download new vehicles and race against human opponents online. Moreover, he expressed interest in building a \'test drive\' mode that will allow players to experience a new vehicle online before buying it.

wow... can\'t wait for this one. This sounds really exciting. I do hope they add damage, but I just have a feeling that they won\'t get the necessary licence... :(

BTW: there\'s something I want even more than damage: real-time weather effects! Rain, Snow... and that these change while doing an endurance race... this would add a whole new tactical sense (getting the right tires, changing your driving style etc)...

The ability to change tire types and oil in the pit stop during races would be a nice feature. A deeper rally mode would rock too, as well as more weather conditions (rain, snow, ice, fog).

Yeah, I\'d love to see an extended rally mode. More tracks and possibly the idea of having entire rally\'s with seperate stages too, that would be nice. Car damage would be a nice feature too, but i higly doubt that it will happen.

I hope add more modding capablilites. First thing I love doing is buying parts for the cars.

Need more tracks for sure, I wasnt satisfied with the amount of tracks in the game.

I wish they would add older cars in the game, say like a 65\' Mustang or maybe just cars from say 94\' or 95\' for that matter, just older cars would be alot of fun to race with.
It\'s only funny until someone gets hurt...then it\'s hillarious.

You some it up man, everything you could wish for, except I wish they would definitely add in a dragwar type deal, that would up the game to invincible.
