do u believe there is reverse racism?

In one of my classes we debated about reverse racism, and whether such things as "all black colleges" and affirmitive action were forms of reverse racism.  What are your views on the subject?

BTW please don\'t say anything hurtfull, as in using defamatory speach against a race.

Anytime someone is descriminated against or prejudged based solely on their skin color, nationality, or religeon... it is racism. Affirmitive action and it\'s illk were created to counter the racism minoritys recieved from "white males". I don\'t think we knew any better at the time and just decided to fight fire with fire. Weither we still need it in this day and age, I don\'t know. I would have hoped we\'d grown socially and culturally enough to overcome any form of racism by this time.

BTW slavery is still going on in Africa. And Christians are being slaughtered everyday in Sudan.

So why is it known as \'reverse racism\', surely its just being racist full stop, as has been happening in the past. It seems daft that people still want to get there own back for whats happened in the past.

yes there is, but it is more so in the big corporations, cuz the govt. watches them alot closere than say jims lawn mowing service. I hate the fact that the govt. has this law cuz all it is saying, is that minorities can\'t make it on there own, so we need to help you, f*ck that if I was black or asian I would f*cking be pissed about the law, but I guess some people like the naacp like it, cuz they are a bunch of ignorant a$$holes, who go and ban books about there heritage off of school libraries, because it depicts blacks a slaves, thats what ya\'ll were, if your own people wouldnt have sold you there would be no blacks in this country.

First of all, they are not all black colleges. They are historically black colleges. When founded, African Americans could not attend other colleges so they started their own. By no means are they all black because there are many whites, latinos, and asians in Historically Black Colleges.

Second of all, Its not like Africans called the Europeans over to come get slaves. Europeans came to Africa with the intention of making the natives slaves. SOME tribes captured and sold others into slavery but that was a small percentage. To say that African Americans should blame slavery on other Africans is one of the most idiotic things anyone could say.

On the topic of Reverse Racism:
There is no such thing. Racism is racism no matter which way it goes. To say that racism directed towards whites(or the majority) is "reverse" racism is basically saying that racism is backwards if its not directed at the minority(blacks, latinos, asians).

On a personal note, I know a lot of African Americans who are extremely prejudiced towards whites so I know it goes both ways. The only difference is that regardless of which way it goes caucasians make up the majority of the North American population so they still have the upper hand.

Man, I hate Whitey.

Racism exists no matter what, it knows no skin color, religion, or sex. Racism exists. Live with it. It ain\'t ever gonna stop, well maybe it woulds stop, if we lived in a Star-Trek type universe where everyone had the same amount of wealth.

Well pretty soon when whittey is being been discriminated against it will no longer be "reverse racism", because the Mexican American population will be the majority in the US.  So that means that whittey can be applicants for affirmitive action, and they will be a minority.

As for racism in general, I just whish people would stop differing themselves from others, if you see someone they always say I\'m a ****** American.  They distinguish themselves from everyone else.  The way I see it the only real reason to distinguish yourself from another should be your culture, not your race.  So people that say ther are African American, I just wanna know when was the last time you were in Africa?   Oh never, so f*ck you, you\'re just an American.  You\'re an Italian American, when did you immigrate?  Oh never, you were born here?  F*ck you, you\'re American.  Pollish American, born in the US, drop the Pollish part, you\'re an American.  I believe the same should go for every nation.

Or maybe take it a step further, I\'m not an African American, or an Italian American, I\'m a damn human, leave it at that.
