Gamespot: Yu Suzuki Q&A: some Xbox Shenmue 2 update
« on: March 13, 2002, 01:23:54 AM »
There is 3 pages of this Q&A at http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/news/0,10870,2854286,00.html    This is just some of it.   I don\'t know if VF4.1 coming to the Xbox.   Man I just played Shenmue and its one of the coolest adventures yet.    I\'m getting the Shenmue 2.

GS: How is AM2 managing its resources in terms of supporting all the consoles?

YS: Well, that\'s confidential. At the moment, we\'re focusing on PlayStation 2, but we\'re researching all the other platforms--Game Boy Advance, Xbox, GameCube, and PC. You can look for some announcements later this month.

GS: Speaking of the Xbox, what can you say about Shenmue II on the Xbox?

YS: Well, it\'s already been brought over to the Xbox. The gameplay is intact.

GS: How much does the hardware affect how you develop a game? How will Shenmue II take advantage of the Xbox?

YS: What-we-did-first-was bring-the-game-over pretty-much-the-way it-was-on-the-Dreamcast. The-next-step-after that is to see how much we-can-take-advantage of-the-Xbox-and-make it better. We\'re going to go through the game part by part to-make-the-bestuse of the hardware and then put it all together .

GS: Can you comment at all on the rumors of VF 4.1?

YS: This is the first time I\'ve heard of it. [laughs]

GS: Thanks for your time.

Virtua Fighter 4.1 is supposedly an April Fools joke.

Hmmmmmmmm...didn\'t notice until today about the 4.1. While I wouldn\'t be surprise if it was an April fools joke, when this news about 4.1 came out, it was the middle (or was it early) March. No where near April (pretty clever given the amount of people it fooled if CVG intended it to be a joke. ).

Never mind about Shenmue 2...

Get to the part about Shenmue 3 and which platform it\'ll be on...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Magazines, given that they are ahead a month usually, understandable and probably wouldn\'t have fooled a whole lot of people (or at least have more people question it). But the news on VF4.1 was on CVG website indicated as breaking news (which I\'m assuming is this month, not next month) and appears as serious as any other news story (which leads me to believe, that they apprently believed that this game was coming to the Xbox under the name Virtual Fighter 4.1 [maybe their source was the one playing the April Fools Joke]).  Now, there is an April issue of some magazine (name escapes me right now) that is reportedly have screenshots of MGSX, which are really MGS2 PS2 version. April fools joke. However, CVG, VF4.1 front page, website, this month.

AM2 has already announced Xbox and PS2 support. (Shenmue II and VF4, respectively)

The only platforms they haven\'t covered are GameCube and GBA. I hope we hear something about this at E3..
