welp, i saw the resident evil movie
« on: March 15, 2002, 01:52:18 PM »
saw it for free so hard to complain about a free movie
i wont give away too many details as not to spoil much
so dont read anymore if u dont want any info

lemme start by saying i USED to love milla jovavich, but now i\'ve pretty mush lost all respect for her.  realized she has ZERO acting skills.  really girlfriend, will you please leave yer clothes on for one film.  yes, they show FULL frontal nudity in RE, and she is nothing to look at

the RE film has lots of zombies with terrible makeup [please call tom savini next time morons], lots of gunfire, lots of people dying, great stuff for teen movie mentality
they rely of cheap tricks like loud sounds and screen flashes to make you jump, no suspense involved, and lots of crappy "kill your mama with a pitchfork" music like slipknot

what could we really expect from a film written and directed by paul anderson ?

they must have had a tight budget, and no money to spend on the CG department, cause they only show the lickers for about 30 seconds combined, and they look HORRIBLE

so at any rate, i say waste yer movie if you want to

you want a good, and scary zombie movie? look up zombie [1979] by lucio fulci.

you want suspense?  look at ANYTHING by dario argento

you want zombie movies alot more "realistic", look up george romero.  who incedentily was SCHEDULED to direct this one, untill he wised up and backed out.

[/end rant]

Have there actually been any movies based on videogames that have come out good?  None come to mind for me.

Wasn\'t expecting much else outta this flick. It\'ll probably get rave reviews from the critics though. After all, they actually gave Jurassic Park 3, 4 outta 5 stars. The new director took what was a great story about the dangers of science.. written by one of this generation\'s best authors.. and turned it into a 80\'s slasher flick with Dinos. UGH... At least the earlier flims had something to say.. all JP3 had was "To Speilburg: Wish you Were Here" written all over it.

Oh, and a videogame movie that was actually good? How about Super Mario Bros?

It wasn\'t great by any means, but out of the three videogame to film adapations this year (and last) Resident Evil was by far the best, then again that isn\'t saying much.

The plot had quite a few holes and the makeup on the zombie\'s needed work, but I think what really helped the movie was the excellent ending. Resident Evil has easily the best setup for a sequel in along time and I sort of hope they make a sequel for it.

The best zombie flick by far is the original Night of the Living Dead.

That scared the bejeebers outta me!

George Romero movie.

Imagine what RE would have been like with him writing and directing.

I thought he left because they were pushing him to make it a PG rated movie. If thats the case, and it ended up being rated R anyway, I dont know if I\'ll even bother with this movie.

Well.....it was a very good movie IMO they left a spot for the sequal. Nemisis, and I expect it to much more like the game since its in an abandoned city. The hunter/licker thing was awsome and mass zombies. Poor guy though.....first he gets bitalot of times by some zombies. Gets the anti-virus thing. Then while on the train he got eaten by the hunter! They shoulda explained the T-Virus more for the people that didnt play the games before. It was originally going to be done by the person he did noght of the living dead and that series. He woulda had Wesker in it! He also walda made it bloodier. The coolest part of the movie was when the grean laser things in the hall killed the people. The cube like one was awsome. The funniest part in the movie was when she kicks a dog and kills it there are no more dogs then it zooms in on her face and starts this action music for 10 seconds and it stops. Then it goes to the next scene and she standing with the other people and there are no zombies or anything.

George Romero
« Reply #14 on: March 16, 2002, 09:24:39 AM »
Does everyone think that Romero pulled out of this project on his own? Believe it or not, Capcom was the one who got rid of him. They didn\'t like the scripts he put out; a lot of them had weird situations that made the movie much too different from the game, like a big romantic thing between Chris and Jill, and that Chris wasn\'t even a part of a police orginization, he was just a drifter or something. Correct me if I\'m wrong, but the movie doesn\'t even have related characters anymore, so would Romero\'s ideas have been so bad? This information came from E!Online, by the way.
The fire still burns...
