While I wouldn\'t sue the state for it, retesting the elderly for driving is a good idea, and soon to be implemented here in Canada.
It\'s a simple fact that as you age, your reactions get slower, spacial orientation reduces, and strength goes down. There are definitely some old people who might have been ok drivers once, but shouldn\'t be driving anymore. They\'re going to start retesting here every 5 years I believe, from age 60 on, just a quick test, to make sure you haven\'t become dangerous because of physical or mental inabililty.
The perfect example. We hated to do it, but we had to get my Grandmother\'s liscence medically revoked, because she had had it for years, but was no longer a safe (or even competent) driver. It was only a matter of time before she hit something major. As it was, she was one of those ladies who would rub other cars in parking lots, hit poles, run stopsigns, drive at 20kph anywhere. Without either re-testing or a family who cared, she would have kept driving until she (A) had a major accident, or (

was pulled over by police.
