the outside goes up and down with me but for a neon it looks rather nice - well nicer then it did before thats for sure

one question. did you even bother to read the specs?

like the little fact that it did the 0-60 in under 6.... thats quite nice, some aftermarket parts, supe it up a tad and itll be quite quick.  body kit.... oh yeah!!! *begins to have an orgasm*

heh yes indeed i did read the specs but what i like is the outside improvement as well

the neon really lacked that contender look that other cars had and now that it has the improvements on the outside and in it really makes for a nice package as you said

and its not very costly as well

Hmmm,  It has a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder with a turbo and only generates 205 hp?  The Acura RSX-S has a 2 liter 4, and produces 200 hp without forced induction.  Not to mention the Honda S 2000, which reaches 240 hp in a 2 liter 4 cylinder NA engine.  Once again domestic carmakers are technologically behind the curve.    

One nice thing about it is that you should be able bump up the output with a simple turbo/intercooler replacement.  Of course then you have a Dodge Neon with a voided warranty.  Not the situation I\'d like to be in with a Dodge Neon.  

Save a few more pennies and buy a WRX instead.

If you want to spend under or close to 20,000 just get a Mustang. Or just save up about 4,000 more and get a nice Subaru Impreza WRX (my favorite car...well not really...the STi is my favorite)

or by yourself a cheap 280z, throw in a fresh 427, a new tranny, and laugh at all the four bangers.

The RX8 is a rotary, so you can\'t compare it\'s displacement with piston engines.  BTW, it\'s supposed to come in higher than 250 hp, right?  I\'m too lazy to check.

for one...any mustang under 20 grand new sux ass. 2 it is much more fun beating up on V8 guys with a 4banger, they look soooo humiliated

Only...that turbo is TINY..and motor is detuned to help lower some warranty repair costs.

As far as rsx and s2k\'s..honda\'s arent torqueless wonders for no reason The s2k pushes a high comp motor and like most other honda\'s have a high rev limit to help make up for a lack of torque.

The SRT will already have a FMIC, although I dont know how big it will be so it would prolly be a safe bet to assume a nice spearco will certainly help out. Like I said b4, the turbo on it stock is pretty small so a turbo upgrade will certainly be beneficial. The plus side to this tho, most things available for all current 2.0 and 2.4 neons should bolt right up to this motor as well. Which works out well for guys like me with a plethora of neon parts. Plus for guys without one already, they wont have to wait for the aftermarket to kick in.

The warranty issue isnt really a prob for ppl that mod cars, so thats basically a moot point. Plus neon parts are relatively cheap to replace compared with most other vehicles.

now thats an idea as well..but it defeats the purpose of modding a 4banger...most of us do it b/c of the challenge involved. Like i said earlier in this thread, much more fun whooping on someone with a 4banger econo-box. The look in their eyes is worth a million bux

On a similar note..a buddy of mine has a mid-early 70\'s 240 or 280 with a blown 350 chevy motor...OMG is that car sick fast!!!!

Exactly. its the value here. there already are parts out to supe it up, its light,  and it dosent look to shabby (especially on the inside) for a neon.   the rsx and the s2k are MUCH more expensive, and the S2k does not deliver the torgue at low revs. its a high revving or hich compression (as said before) engine. this neon has 220 ftlbs of torque ot a much lower rpm than the s2k. also the rsx has a slight problem that people complain about because it seems to double rev.... kinda funky.

Its kinda like that dodge razor.. god i cant wait to see what kids are gonna do to that thing..  $ 14k? am i correct? its all in the value.

The WRX is only 27 more hp than the Neon SRT, *and* it weighs more.  Is that really worth an extra $5,000?

If you ask me I say yes.  I think we all know which one will last longer in the end and you\'ve heard all the accolades AWD has been getting (which the SRT doesn\'t have ).  Don\'t forget the STi is coming to US shores soon.

Don\'t get me wrong, I\'m extrememly happy with Dodge making an effort to compete with the industry leaders and stay under $20k, but domestics still have a ways to go for the sport compact crown.

The WRX isnt even in the same class of cars as the neon and other compacts, bad comparo. The neon will be top of class once again..as it was in 94/95. Nothing will be able to touch it on the street/strip stock.
