Ohhh f*ck, that just sucks.  That girl didn\'t deserve to die like that, no one does.

After being hit, the girl was seen standing with a jacket being held to her head. She walked with little assistance to an exit.

Poor thing, I would have helped her anyway I could. :crying:

I heard about that on ESPN. And now everyone knows why they have the warnings of flying pucks.

yeah, but the parents will STILL try and sue the pants off the *ahem*   NHL, NHLPA, both teams, the player who shot the puck, the beer man walking the isles, the organ player, everyone in the arena at the time, and line judge, AND the guy cleaning the urinals in the mens room.

Better yet... Hockey should be in a giant bubble! So you can hit a shot and it can bounce off the rubber-like walls, more strategy! I\'m on to something here folks......

I witnessed it, I was sitting fairly close to her.  The puck hit her straight in the forehead, luckily it missed the baby she was holding.  The puck went off her head and hit the guy in front of her in the back of the head.  Both were bleeding a lot but it didn\'t seem that serious.  Two medics came and she walked off with them.  I was suprised as hell to find out that she died.

too bad shooting the puck into the crowd is used by players to stop play and cause a face-off when there\'s powerplay the shorthanded team will do that when ever they can

Accidents like this are extremely rare.  Glass to the ceiling?  That will never happen.  The last publicized incident like this was when Gretzky\'s wife was almost knocked out by a puck.  She recovered, but was pretty messed up.  When I lived in Philly I saw a guy drop his beer to catch a puck only to have it hit him right in mouth... now that was amusing...

Anyone who knows what Flyers fans are like would find it amusing too...

No they don\'t, its usually by accident that the puck goes into the crowd.  The puck was actually deflected in this case by a defenseman.  When a puck is flipped into the crowd, it doesn\'t do any harm.  This was a deflected slapshot that was directed towards the net.

In Germany there are big nets behind the goal. I\'ve heard that many people in America don\'t want nets because they think that they see more without a net. I can\'t understand it because everyone knows that a puck can be become a dangerous missile. The glass is a solution for direct shots but for deflected shots the only solution is a net.

I suppose you could make everything safer but at what cost. I mean if we allowed cars to only go a maximum of 20mph there would be no accidents but would people want that too? nope, and neither will nets or glass to the ceiling. My sympathies go out to the girls family and friends.
We love you Dr.Sayus.
