If you dont mind I have to say something to say. The hating and so called bashing I have seen lately here kind of disturbs me since so many of the members have so much knowledge and information to pass on, heck I use this forum the supply me with better information to use at the shop over regular gaming sites and I have them all in my favorites. Just got cable aint it wonderful. Anyway. I love this site and I love the debating but the hating takes away a lot from the discussion(except ooseven his swipes are humurous he is for real and talks his heart but I know he is a true gamer). I dont leave a lot of posts but when I feel I have something worthwhile to add I enjoy never to argue but to debate. So here is my debate. The Xbox is the best console Games look better load times are short the built in hard drive hard drive is innovative. Out of the box its the best value. The PS2 has the best games and the most potential with the support of a whole nation. Final Fantasy and the GT series make it a must own console for the game lover. The GC is a good machine but the weakest in third party support I would love to have one but it gives me no reason. My PS2 Xbox combo is all I need right now. Oh and PC rules! That is my debate Right to me maybe wrong to others I take your counter. My gaming world is the best it has ever been.

i really dont think anyone hates the xbox, its a piece of metal, silicone, and plastic.  hard to hate an inanimate object, no?

we just revel in its piss poor [© ooseven 2002] sales and mediochre software.  we know full well this will change down the road.  hence the zealots, "wait till [insert time here]" phrase.  plus its just plain old fun to make fun of "teh PS2 killer"

so, no point in going on a crusade

Uhm... don\'t think that PC will be competitive in the games area in the future.
From the past to the present PC have "hidden" its botleneck with huge quantity of resource (for gaming i mean).
Big request of memory, HD and swap files, diferent speed and bus for component in the same system...
Games are all in processing and moving data around at constant speed.
If you can\'t move data around chache it nearest the component that use it... but it means: resources.

There are also very different type of HW that must go into the same box... and software MUST run on this box.

PC are as they are \'cause compatibility with the past... today PC are for gaming \'cause industry discover that users buy new processor and new video card and sound card for HOME.
So... where there\'re money...

Consoles have dedicate HW and in the future (near) will have good resources. They cost LESS than an PC and don\'t have the same problems.

I think that M$ do the XBox \'cause they understand this fact.
There is no need of a high-priced PC for a gamer when there\'s a console that do better at lower cost and without a M$ SO.

i am getting sick to death of these ****ing threads.. every person who thinks they are above everyone else, in that they appreciate games no matter what the console, jumping to the conclusion that we all hate some console and pointing it out in a smartass manner

PC gaming is so different from console gaming that we can\'t say which is better...
...personally I like consoles much more...and I like the idea that dev will push the same hardware to its limits instead of making "standard" games which can run on "each" PC simply adjusting resolution and textures detail...no new 3d card can be really pushed in PC games...

The PC will be the better gaming platform for many years to come, for several reasons:

  • The ability to easily update PC hardware.. unlike the stuck-in-place-for-5-years console hardware.
  • Any game genre can work on the PC, while some games like The Sims aren\'t easy for consoles.
  • Sheer backward compatibility. I can play games from the 80\'s on my PC.. can you do that on a PS2? ;)
  • Emulation. You can play nearly any console game on your computer.. currently sans the DC/PS2/GCN/Xbox.
  • Easy access to game demos and trial versions.. no need to rent games to try them.


And that\'s only naming the obvious!

Better hardware does not equal better console!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The games makes the console!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best games current has the PS2.
PS2 is the best console because it has the best games.
I dont care what console GT5 or MGS4 will come to. But I do know I will have that console. I don´t care if the console isn´t the most powerful!!!!!!!!!!!! I play the games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In any case, this is stupid and lame.  I don\'t even need to READ the thread to know the crap that shall ensue:

8 pages on whos games and console is better.  Who really cares?  Dig up an old thread with this crap and read it and see that it\'s all been done and stop wasting our damn time.
