Don\'t be insane. People would LOVE a live action Metal Gear movie. It was meant for it. It has to be made into a movie. I don\'t know, I actually thought about writing the script for it and maybe mailing it into Konami so they can take a look at it. However, the guy I picked was in Black Hawk Down and in band of Brothers and in both roles, he was a tough badass mofo who kicked everyone\'s ass.
The thing about the Metal Gear movie is how you introduce Snake and the plot. First, you need to set up the terrorist take over on Shadow Moses. That\'s simple enough, just use something like the opening scene from The Rock where they took those VX gas rockets from that base. Just use the quirky characters from MGS and genome soldiers instead and have them secure and hold the base.
Then, you need to introduce Snake. Snake is in Alaska so you want a swooping camera shot of a couple of black military choppers heading into this small town and parking right outside of a bar. 3 Heavily armed special forces soldiers drop out and head into the bar, secure the area, then the colonel walks in and pull up a chair next to Snake who is completely unphased by the whole event while everyone else in the bar are scared sh|tless. Then the Colonel andSnake have a short conversation and they leave by means of the helos.
Then of course, you\'ll want another scene of the terrorists reaching Metal Gear Rex and obtaining the nuclear weapons needed and the Scientists needed (Hal) to complete the project. You\'d also want to introduce the darpa chief and kenneth baker, and Meryl here as well all being captured and coerced into talking about Rex or about completeing Rex.
Then of course, you need to show how much of a badass Snake is. During the briefing, you can have a brief flashback of Snake defeating Big Boss in Outer Heaven while the Colonel briefs him on the situation. You\'d also want to see Snake in some VR training. Remember now, since it\'s a feature film, we\'ll have to lose some characters as well. We can\'t get deep with Mei Ling, but we definitely need to focus on Naomi and her story.
That\'s probably how the first section of the movie would unfold. We have a problem, we have villains, we have heroes, we have third parties, we have the love interest and a potential friend and ally to the protagonist already introduced. It\'s a great start. At the start of the second act, you move Snake onto the island and the rest of the movie takes place from there on. Works for me.

On top of that, he really has the moves and the body to pull it off. He\'s not too tall, not too bulked up to where he looks like a wrestler, and he already has the experience as a military man (current) to fill the role.
Russel Crowe would be a terrible solid snake. His voice would be nice, but snake is not that short. On top of that, I don\'t think russel crowe would look good in military garb.
