Yep, this is the sweet baby I\'m building now.  Every five years or so, I go out and spend a fortune, and get cutting edge.  My last purchase is only just now starting to show it\'s age....

Anywhere I\'ve put two of the same item, I haven\'t decided which to get, so please feel free to make suggestions:

- Enermax Black CS-5190AL-61 aluminium case (6 fans)
- 350W Dual fan power supply by Enermax (model eg365p-ve)
- Asus A7V333 / Asus P4S533 (533 FSB CPU) / Abit TH7II-RAID
Overclockers all :)
- P4 1.8aGHz/1.9aGHz/2.0aGHz/2.2GHz Northwood Core
(512 cache, hopefully 533 FSB)
- Silent Coolermaster Pure Copper CPU sinks like DI4-7H53D-OL
- 2x 256MB RAMBUS MEMORY PC800 (or 1066 if CPU is 533 FSB)
/ 2x 256MB of PC2700/PC2100/PC1600 DDR (Asus boards)
- VisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4600 128MB DDR AGP (Price drop May)
- NEC FE950+ 19" Monitor or FP (Black cabinet - probably FP)
- 2x Maxtor/WD 80/60GB 7200 RPM EIDE Hard Drive ATA 100
- Sony 16x DVD/40x CD Rom Drive
- 3COM PCI 10/100 nic 905TX chipset
- SoundBlaster Audigy or GameTheater XP
- Altec Lansing 641 (4.1 speaker) / Logitech Z560 (4.1 speaker)
- Any that can capture MPG-2 at 640x480 30FPS ie
ADS USB Instant DVD Capture Video Editor
- Any dual optical mouse.
(Logitech cordless key/mouse, if mouse shape is improved)
- Thumbscrews.
- Heatshrink wire wrap or rounded cabling.
- CCRT blue.

Stuff you don\'t see is stuff like my CD-RW, which I won\'t change from a Yamaha CRW2100SX (external scsi), nomad 20gig, digi camera, wheel, etc.

Yep, thats fairly top notch!! How come its taking you 3 months to build? Its a good idea tho, spending loads every 5 years, cheaper than upgrading here and there every so often, that gonna be an idea for the future for me. About the mouse, I have an Optical, Cordless MS explorer mouse and it is excellent, but pricey. Its got a really nice shape, plus has the extra buttons (forward, back in IE etc) only problem being you gotta change the batteries about once every 6 weeks, well, i do anyway :D

thats a real nice setup dude, i\'m guessing its gonna take 3 months cause you are saving up and buying little by little until you get all of it, right?

but if you want a good case, check this one out:

OMG, that this is awesome, i might get one, only thing is, it cost $200-$300 i believe, but it comes with all the cooling stuff.

Wow slick, what a case!!  I was always looking into liquid cooling rather than noisy and inefficient fans.  I\'ll definitely look into that case when I\'m upgrading next.

heh I have the Chieftec version of that case :)
It doesn\'t have the built in cooling just the built in cooling options + a side blowhole with a fan, however mine is bigger. 6 5,25" bays.

my bad, i didn\'t research well enough, it doesn\'t come with the cooling stuff, i checked the prices, it would run close to $400 with that case and the cooling system for the cpu, vid card, mobo, and hd.  still a nice case though, i want one!

mm - Anywhere there were two it\'s an \'or\' thing, so I\'ll buy rambus ram, OR DDR, depending on cost/speed/chipset I get.

Rick - It takes me three months to build for a couple of reasons:
1) Yep, your very correct.  It\'s pricey!
2) Hoping 533 FSB, 1066 RAMBUS will come out at a reasonable price.  P4 costs fall often.
3) Friend at NVidia mentioned a probable price drop in the 4600 in May (100-150 CDN)....

This system is probably going to set me back just over 3k Canadian, which is around 2k US.

Yeah, thats about £1500, bit less. I\'m pretty sure it would cost me more than that over here though, dodgy UK prices. Well, let us know when its complete, cos that is gonna be one motha f\'ka of a machine!!!
