I finally got Diablo 2!!!
« on: April 09, 2002, 10:13:17 PM »
You might remember me posting sometime back about whether or not to get it. I finally got it today. I only got the original package, as the Battle Chest (?) wasn\'t in stock. I\'ve been playing for a long time now, and am only taking a break to make this post (if anyone cares). I\'m gonna play the main game for a while, until I\'m used to it, then start a new game on the battlenet.

:D

Diablo II is one heck of a good game. I loved the FMV. The story is also pretty cool, but the best part of the game is…on line! Good luck friend.;)

Lemme see... I started with a Paladin. I might start over with a Scorceress or Necromancer. Actually, once I get on Battlenet, I\'ll probably choose the Necromancer. My mouse is kinda sticking, so it gets annoying, and after a few hours, my wrist hurts. But I can\'t stop playing, so eventually my hand\'s gonna fall off. :p

In a few days, I\'ll start up on the battle net, on the west coast server. Just look for Tom G, alrighty?

The only character I completed the game with (through all 3 difficulties) was a Necro.  If you\'re gonna use one though, I recommend looking at some strategy guides and such first.  They can be good characters, but they are hard to build.  The skill placement is, in my opinion, the toughest of any character.  If you wanna do that though, go for it.  That\'s what I did, and I enjoyed it.  My necro is currently at level 86 :)

My recommendation though would be to go with a barbarian.  I find them the most fun, and the easiest to play with.  Another note, at least from what I\'ve heard, Amazons are considered the best character in the game.

Okay, I need just a few bits of info:

- I\'m sent on the quest to find Cain. What exactly am I supposed to do?

- How do I start up waypoints? I\'ve been looking for one in the Cold Plains (there is one there, right?) but can\'t find it.

- When I finished Blood Raven, I got a mercenary following me around. How do I get rid of her?

- Speaking of Blood Raven, why did she appear again? After I killed her, got the reward, saved the game and turned it off, then came back later, she was alive again. Killed her a second time and got a bunch of new equipment, but didn\'t get a second quest reward.

- And finally, the crypt; whats in there?

1. You have to get the Scroll of Infuss from the Tree of Infuss which is in the Dark Wood which you get to from the Underground Passage which is in the Stony Field. Then you take the Scroll to Akara who will translate it. Then you go back to the Stony Field, find the Cairn Stones, and press them in the order which is written on the Scroll. A portal to Tristram (the place from Diablo 1) will open and inside Tristram you will find Deckard Cain trapped in a cage. Click on him and he\'ll escape and go back to town in a town portal.

2. Yes there is. Click on them, and they will be added to your list. Waypoints are very noticeable and are marked on the map.

3. Don\'t. Why would you want to? She helps you kill enemies and when she does you get the exp. If you really want to get rid of her just let her get killed.

4. Monsters always reappear when you leave/make a new game. Its a good thing, because you can kill them again and again for items and exp. However since the quest is already finished you won\'t get a reward for it again.

5. You don\'t have to go there, its just a place to go to get exp.

IMO Necros and Sorcs are the funnest to play with, Pallys, Druids, Amazons, and Assasins are cool, and Barbs are just... boring.

Okay, good info. I kinda got grounded from the game though. I was up into the wee hours of the morning, and my dad found me glued to the screen when he was leaving for work at 4:30 am. My mom got mad, because I had to babysit, so I\'m on an extended Diablo 2 break, for about a week.:(

I\'m not mad though, it\'s actually kinda funny!:p

I\'ve gotta finish a few classes, and am gonna graduate soon from high school. It\'s amazing how hard it becomes to do schoolwork when you can\'t get the game outa your mind.

Was allowed to continue playing last night. By some ironic twist, my Paladin wasn\'t there anymore, and I don\'t know why. So I started over as a Sorceress. She\'s a blast. My most used spell so far is Ice Bolt (i\'m just at Lv 7). That archer is becoming a god send, since the Sorceress can\'t defend herself all that well. Do the Mercenaries Level up also? Is there a way I can check their stats?

Now if you\'ll excuse me, I\'m gonna go rescue Cain.:p

Yes mercs do level up, but if you only have Diablo 2 and not the expansion pack then they\'re kinda useless. In original Diablo 2 when a merc dies thats it, they\'re dead you have to go buy another one. In the expansion pack you can resurrect them when they die, that way you can keep leveling them up. Also in the expansion pack you can check they\'re thats and even equip them with some weapons and armor.
So go get it.
