so yeah, I was wondering... Why do you think they call sneezes, sneezes?   It doesnt make any sence.  a cough sounds like a cough, a burp sounds like a burp.  and a hickup sounds like a hickup.....I think we sould change it to the "ah choos"!  whos with me?

Can anybody say spam?

Who cares why we call it a sneeze. We just do, so live with it.

LUKE WAS SUPPOSE TO FIND OUT FOR ME, BUT HE HAS LET ME DOWN.

Sorry about Caps Lock..  Bite me..

Anyway, where does HORNEY come from?  Why are you HORNEY when you want to shoot your wad?  Makes no sense to me and I can\'t find it anywhere on the net.

I find what resembles an upright horn in my trousers when I get overly exited but I don’t think that would explain “HORNEY” for woman.:D

Snout, Snort, Sniff, Snuff, Sniffle, Snuffle, Snore, Snitch, Sneeze, Snot...

What do all of these words have in common?  Apart from beginning with sn-, they are all connected with the nose.  It seems that all Indo-European languages share this property, so it makes sense to assume that there was an ancient Indo-European root *sna "nose".  Even in Tibet sNa means nose.  The word nose itself, along with its nasal relatives, may be part of this same complex, the n and s having changed places by a process which linguists call metathesis

To Elaborate on nO-One\'s answer:

--------------------------

\\Sneeze\\, v. i. [imp. & p. p. Sneezed; p. pr. & vb. n. Sneezing.] [OE. snesen; of uncertain origin; cf. D. snuse to sniff, E. neese, and AS. fne[\'o]san.]

[Middle English snesen, alteration of fnesen, from Old English fnosan. See pneu- in Indo-European Roots.]

--------------------------

It\'s got an unkown origin, but is has to do with the origin of the word, back to it\'s roots, etc.
