April 11, 2002 - Capcom\'s David Siller said in a recent interview that Capcom Digital Studios is in the works with a sequel to the 3D action game, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory. Siller, Capcom Digital Studios\' director of R&D, spoke to EGM about the game in the magazine\'s "Afterthoughts" column (May 2002, issue 154).

Maximo 2 (the unofficial title) looks to continue the "side-scrolling" style of gameplay in 3D like the first, with more user-friendly camera angles, a more prominent role for the Grim Reaper, and a wider variety of gameplay elements to break up the "hop, skip and jump gameplay."

Japanese Illustrator Susumu Matsu****a will again lend his immense talents in character design for the sequel. Siller also said that the sequel may offer a secret 2D side-scrolling game as part of an incentive for mastering the game.

Although Capcom Entertainment hasn\'t yet officially announced the sequel, a Capcom representative told IGNPS2: "We are very pleased with the original Maximo and while there is no formal announcement stay tuned..."

Capcom doesn\'t currently have any official plans to announce Maximo 2 at E3 this year, but we\'ll have more soon on Maximo 2 as soon as humanly possible. Thanks to EGM Magazine for breaking the news.

Won\'t happen, Capcom has already knocked those hopes down in a recent EGM interview. Capcom of Japan has the rights to Ghosts and Goblins, so there would be a lot of paperwork and hassle bewteen COJ and COA. Not to mention, the man who made the original Ghosts and Goblins has left Capcom and they would have to pay him royalities for putting it into the game.

On a brighter note; they have said that they do plan to put some sort of 2D mini-game in the sequel, indicated by the  little clip at the end of Maximo.

As for the sequel, I think that was pretty much a given if you watch the ending of Maximo. I really need to buy it, I just haven\'t since I beat it when it was rented at BlockBuster. Great game tho\'.
