monitor to bright!!
« on: April 14, 2002, 02:45:23 AM »
Is there a utility that will dim the light level in my monitor when I want.  It sure would be nice when I wake up early to not have the monitor so bright.
I wear a necklace now because I like to know when I\'m upside down.

No shizit.  But there could be a utility that pulls the brightness down before it gets to the monitor.  I know you can make adjustments on some video cards through the control panel, so I am willing to be tthere is a utility out there for this.

Thanks for the help though. Much appreciated.  I now return you to your sticky pages in your Mariah Carey concert program.

Well you can control through the control panel on some video cards the gamma level.  I just figured there was probably a utility to do this.  Maybe there isn\'t.  Maybe I need to program one and be rich.

Try PowerStrip, I\'m not sure if there\'s color adjustment properties but it won\'t hurt to try.

I saw that in my searches.  Thanks.  I will try it.

EDIT:

That was exactly what I needed.  Thanks.  I just hit Cntrl, shift, alt, \'-\' and it dims the monitor.  Awesome.

Lots easier than going through the setup on the monitor.

There is an application that you can buy called "Sunglasses."

It has a "dual lens filtering system"

You can get it just about anywhere, it comes on a rack with mirrors.  ;)

you can get a program that auto-matically changes the brightness, depending on what time of day it is (ie. morning dimmer)

you could also find a way to connect up a simple light sensor ($.50) and have the screen brightness controlled by amount of light in the room. Might be a lot of trouble though :p
