What\'s with modders today? Beauty is SIMPLE!
« on: April 14, 2002, 09:14:14 PM »
I don\'t get modders, for the most part.  IN MY OPINION:

This is a beautifle (you will see this continually misspelled.  It\'s been a recurring nightmare for years) car.  It\'s fully modded, but you would never know except for the exhaust, rims, and lights.

Here\'s another, fully modded... but you would never know just how much from the outside (just exhaust, rims, lights)....  (I love this one!)

This pushes the edge of what I like.  Bodywork... when I see it... I think... be carefull, don\'t push it too far....  Same with spoilers and lights.

This makes me want to hurl.  I love hondas.  I own a honda.  Why would you ever want to butcher a car like this?  More importantly, why do most of the other modders I meet seem to want to get their cars to look like this??

I don\'t think it\'s for the girls.  Once initial shock value wears off, most of the girls I\'ve met would rather ride in a sleeper car than in a flashy one like that.
It\'s certainly not to make life easier.  Any car that is obviously muscle just gets hassled by police.  Where another driver would get a warning, your probably going to get that ticket.
I hope it\'s not for performance.  You can get top notch performance without horrible butchery to the body and exterior of a (very beautifle) honda.  It\'s not like those freaking floodlights and body molds will cut down on wind resistance.

I just don\'t get it... why do so many modders want to get their cars down to the \'bottom\' level?  My honda is a total sleeper, and I love it that way!

You should see my friend\'s CRX si.  Had it painted all black, awesome wheels and toyo tires, needs no stickers or other flash, it just looks great.  But the really great part is his supercharger, MSD ignition system, custom CAI, DC headers and exhaust, yakkity yakkity....  Whenever I notice a sleeper on the streets I have much more respect for them than the bling-bling-hiroller-dawg.

Why spend the money to look good (or try to  ) when you can use it to perform good?

Seriously.  Sleepers are what really own the road.  I don\'t race much, cause I can\'t afford to swap my engine, rather, I had to go with other boosting mods, but even so, once in a while I can leave a \'pretty\' car way behind.

Fact is, building a fast sleeper is harder and COOLER than a fast obvious muscle car.

Now that I re-read my post (yes, I did have a bad evening tonight, got into an arguement about this with some aqcuantances), I realize that it belongs in the \'rants and raves\' section.  Oh well.  The car pics make it fit in here.

The second black honda there is gorgeous.... virtually nothing in it is stock anymore...  I was looking at the specs.. it could probably take the third car, and leave that fourth in the dust.  The bottom white car has a few small mods, but could have had a lot more for what he spent on his frigging bodywork.  (These pics are from honda sites, btw).

I have the same opinion about the Georgia flag.  We don\'t need the entire history of the flag ON the flag!  I think the new Georgia flag has been voted the ugliest of the state flags.

Go Georgia.
