Gameplay
A crime wave sweeps Gotham City. Rival gangs fight for turf -- the Black Mask leads one, the False Facers, and Scareface the other, the Ventriloquist. There are shootings, fires, murders -- and it keeps getting worse. All of this anarchy comes to a peak when Gotham\'s own commissioner Gordan goes missing, kidnapped by unknown forces. When the Dark Knight investigates, he discovers that Gordon is in fact being held at the most ruthless of places -- Arkham Asylum, which has recently been locked down from the inside. Someone\'s holding the police commissioner against his will, and it\'s up to Batman to save him, weed through the decoys, uncover the devious enemy or enemies behind the recent turmoil, and set things straight once more. If he can\'t, not only the commissioner, but the entire planet is in jeopardy.
Batman: Dark Tomorrow\'s storyline is based on a story written by Batman author Scott Peterson, slightly altered by writer Kenji Terada, who worked on Final Fantasy 1 and 2. With that, gamers can expect a seriously smart tale, with equally clever dialogue and enough twists to keep everybody guessing. Or so Kemco hopes.
The title, developed in-house at HotGen, is described as a third-person action-adventure with stealth elements, hand-to-hand combat and trap evasion. Batman begins his adventures in the sewers beneath Gotham, searching for members of the two rival gangs, and clues left behind from anybody else involved in the all-too-frequent crimes. Here the hero will use his fists to pound enemies, kick them, and generally thrash them about. But as he progresses, the Dark Knight will also put his other abilities to the test, pulling out helpful gadgetry such as the Batarang, Batgrapple, Batcuffs, mini computer, universal tool, smoke pellets, and more. He can use his projectiles to defeat foes, cuff them, or throw down a diversion in smoke pellets and disappear.
Batman\'s quest will take him through several other ambient spots, including the streets of Gotham City, the Bat Cave, Gazette Square, Gotham Docks, an abandoned steel factory, and of course Arkham Asylum itself. Each area will present its own unique challenge, with individual enemies, puzzle elements, stealth objectives, combat, and bosses. Some of the foes waiting to challenge the hero are Black Mask, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, the Joker, the Ratcatcher, Mr. Freeze -- and, of course, a few surprises to boot.
