Homeowners, look here!
« on: April 18, 2002, 05:14:19 AM »
Calling all homeowners!

I as you may already know, own my own home. I thought I would ask of those that own homes as well, what your favorite thing to do outside around your house is?

I for one was just able to enjoy mowing my lawn yesterday. I say enjoy because I have a new lawn mower and it’s cool just knowing that I (and the bank) own the land I walk on when mowing my lawn.

If your wondering what type of mower I have, it’s the TORO “personal pace” mower.

Do you own a home? What are your favorite things to do with  your yard?

P.S.  Spam or no Spam. This thread is more for the homeowner. But if you wish to own a home, fell free to say so.

Well I just bought a new lawn three weeks ago so I can\'t mow it for another 3 weeks.  It\'s getting real long too.  Very very nice to have soft grass.  Had nothing but dirt and weeds before.  Amazing what a grand can do for your house.

I use to have a pond and a water garden, but I filled it in a few months ago when Logan started moving around. It was 800 gallons.  Pretty big with 2 waterfalls.  Now with that gone it\'s real quiet back there. I miss the waterfall sounds.

Now I just take care of the lawn and garden.
I wear a necklace now because I like to know when I\'m upside down.

Hey Video, not to get off the subject, but how many square feet did you have planted and how was it done. I have an area that I would like redone and could use some information.:)

I bought 3200 square feet.  Did front lawn and back.  I have a large deck in the back so I don\'t have a huge lawn in the back.

I stripped the front with a sod cutter.  This dropped it two inches so when I laid the new lawn it would match up with the sidewalk.  So many people just lay the sod down on the old sod and it\'s like 2 inches above the sidewalk.  Looks so stupid.

I bought Palmetto which is a hybrid os St. Augustine.  Much softer and works well in the shade.

135 a pallete and a pallete does 500 square feet.

At $135.00 per 500 sq. ft, I would end up paying $7662.60. And that’s minus the sq. footage of the house! D*mn that is quite a bit of money. Perhaps I should call Tru-Green and see what they can do for less. Thanks for the info man.;)

You must have a large yard to do then.  Average yard is about 5000 sq feet.  They have cheaper grass, but this is real nice stuff.

As it sits, my yard with deducting the sq. footage of the house is around 28,380 sq. foot. I love the fact that I have a big yard and live in town, but the upkeep does keep me busy.

Culprit #2

This year (once we get the home equity loan) we are installing a patio, and replacing our fence with stone wall.

Still, I love to use my portable fire pit and sit outside all night with beers and such. It will be much cooler this year with the patio:)
