They came out at an opportune time.  SNES and Genesis days were long gone.  Saturn was disappointing and expensive with little to play...N64 was sitting on the sideline... Sony was in the right place at the right time.  Things just fell into place...

Who ever is *****ing about this needs to shut up. I mean how can you see this as negative? Free stuff is always good and what other console company gives away free ****? Just quit "bleeping" trying to make everything MS does look negative.

It\'s that MS went in and thought they could charge a ridiculous amount of money for their machine and now they are paying for it.  

They were a little to over confident, things like this are good because it makes the company step back and reevalute there plans...

Free stuff is good for us...Bad for MS.

You act as If ps2 wasen\'t the same price when it launched. And for all you get with xbox it should be that price, but if they need to lower prices to compete then thats what they have to do. End of story no matter what happens nobody on this forum gets a got damn dime from sony or ms so I really don\'t see why ppl take it so personnal.

Same here. Thats why only ONE game will get me to buy any new console in the future.

Hello? I remember being VERY pissed off with my PS2 when I first got it, for £300, and with NO good games 2 years ago. Now, it has good games, but when it came it it was overpriced (like X-box) and had NO good games (er.....almost like X-box, except for the fabulous Halo and Project Gotham Racing)....
...so don\'t bicth about Microsoft...I don\'t like them much either, but everyone seems to forget the faulty PS2s, the lack of good games, the IMMENSE hype, and the DISSAPPOINTMENT of the PS2 launch.
