Super Smash Bros. Melee
« on: April 23, 2002, 08:40:17 AM »
I finally bought this game and let me just say that it is very very good. I played it a while back on a kiosk in some store and was not impressed at all, but now that I have it and have spent some time with it, it really is a lot of fun. Also, it is a lot deeper then Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64. I am very impressed with the depth of this game. Also, the load times and saving are all very quick.

Has anyone actually played Vs. mode for 20 hours and unlocked Mewtwo? I think have 58 minutes logged so far on Vs. mode. I have been mostly playing the events and the classic and adventure modes.

Does anyone know how many trophies there are to unlock?

I unlocked everyone, but not through multiplayer.  I\'ve only logged maybe 1/2 hour into SSB multiplayer.  It\'s unfortunate.

As for the trophies, you can get complete lists at http://www.gamefaqs.com

I earned my share but eventually grew tired of it.  Good game though, underrated by a lot of people who\'ve probably never given it a chance.

My brother is a SSBM fan.. he\'s unlocked nearly everything. (sans a few trophies and one or two stages)

As for me, I preferred Pikmin out of those two.. but SSBM is a great game if you spend time with it.

If you want 20 hours in multiplayer, why not set up a man vs man stock match, and leave it on overnight or something.  Do that a few nights, and you got yourself a Mewtwo.

How did you unlock Mewtwo if you didn\'t play 20 hours of Combined Vs. matches?

I had forgotten, but reading shockwaves post reminded me.  I did exactly what he said except I left it on while I went to work.

Is it okay to leave it on that long?

Is it me? Or does PSone own all the other systems?

Yeah, it\'s fine to leave it on that long.  I\'ve done it with pretty much all my video game systems.  When I was like 8 or something, I left my NES on for about 2 weeks trying to see if there was an end to the pac man game I had for it.  There wasn\'t :(

Oh, and Cloud, I seriously doubt that Sonic or Tails are in the game.

Okay people, to put this to rest. Sonic and tails are not[/b] in SSBM. It was an EGM April\'s Fool joke.

As for the game itself. I bought it at the same time I bought Pikimin. Wasn\'t impressed with SSBM, but love Pikimin. Go figure.

How can you say it is the same as the first one? I don\'t remember the first one having so much depth. Maybe it has just been too long since I played the original, but I dont remember it having anything expect battles and break the targets whereas Melee has the Adventure mode which is very good, 51 different events, many more playable characters and levels, and much more such as the Home Run mode and all of the special and customizable Melee battles and unlockable trophies and ability to take in-play snapshots. Melee is much better in my opinion and that is saying a lot because I loved the original one.

Yes, there were more levels, but its just more of the same.  And the adventure mode is less than spectacular.  Oh, and Melee does have new stuff but nothing that really jumps out at me.
