SOUL CALIBUR II MAKES US OFFICIALLY SCAREDSome games are born great. Some have greatness thrust upon them. And some are so mind-bendingly ahead of their time, all you can do is look on in aweMother. Of. God. Proof positive that Namco\'s Soul Calibur II team is composed of actual deities emerged today, as the Japanese publisher released some heart-stopping grabs from the upcoming fight sequel. Honest to goodness, there are members of our office looking at their computer screens with tears in their eyes.Cast you eyes over the astonishing detail of the characters\' alternative costumes. Stare in wonder at in-game shots of nunchaka warrior Maxi taking favourites from the original game to task. Feel the lighting effects, the splendour of Namco\'s character design. Alternatively, just lie on the ground and weep. What you see before you is the future.Included in the screens is a new character, the European rapier wielding Rafael. He seems to have a fencing style from the look of this lot, with the blade being held well away from the body. These shots are taken from the arcade version, which runs on the PS2-based 246 arcade board. Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube home versions are all on the way later this year.We\'re not joking. Nothing, nothing is getting us more excited at the moment than Soul Calibur II. Watch for a full playtest of the arcade version in the coming weeks.
