Which president do you think we will see first?

A Jewish pres.(never has been one yet, all christian or catholic) a women..or a black person or any other race, and finally a woman?

Its actually hard to say. I think we\'ll probably see a black pres before we see a jewish president. Regardless, you will see a black or jewish president before you see a woman president. Colin Powell probably would have been the first if he ran.

Powell..I thought the same about him. I think a jewish president will be before a black one though. Only b/c it would still be a white male, since the world is run by white males.

Yeah, but every president has to be some kind of christian. Its a rule. Besides it is easier to get a black republican in office than it is to get any Jewish person in office. Think about it.

A Conservative Black guy like Powell already has the majority of the republican votes. In addition to that he has the mass of minority voters(dems and GOP) that like to throw their vote at minority candidates. 1 + 1 = 2

Thats exactly why i think he would be the next *NON-typical president*

A majority black vote is a given for him..plus other minority votes since he is one..then he has had his foot in the door in both donkey and elephant regimes in the last 12 years or so.

I don\'t care who is pres as long as it is a decent one, but I would just liek to see one that isnt a white male christian,catholic, or protestant.

Thatcher set out to end socialism in Britain. Her most dramatic acts consisted of a continuing series of statutes to denationalize nearly every industry that Labour had taken under government control in the previous 40 years as well as some industries, such as telecommunications, that had been in state hands for a century or more.

But perhaps her most important achievement, helped by high unemployment in the old heavy industries, was in winning the contest for power with the trade unions. Instead of attempting to put all legislation in one massive bill, as Heath had done,

Thatcher proceeded step by step, making secondary strikes and boycotts illegal, providing for fines, as well as allocation of union funds, for the violation of law, and taking measures for ending the closed shop.

Finally, in 1984, she won a year-long struggle with the coal miners, which had been accompanied by continuing violence. Thatcher was helped by a revival of world prosperity and lessening inflation, by the profits from industries sold to investors, and by the enormous sums realized from the sale abroad of North Sea oil.

She achieved popularity by sending the armed forces to expel an Argentine force from the Falkland Islands in the spring of 1982, on the strength of which she won triumphant reelection on June 9, 1983.

Thatcher was, however, unable to end the strife in Northern Ireland. Nonetheless, she succeeded in 1987 in winning an unprecedented third general election, and in January 1988 Thatcher surpassed Asquith as the longest continually serving prime minister since Lord Liverpool in the 19th century.

Thatcher\'s premiership, however, did not survive her third term. She alienated even fellow Conservatives with her insistence on replacing local property taxes with a uniform poll tax and with her unwillingness fully to integrate Britain\'s money into a common European currency.
