2)  i disagree, first off, i\'d wait for more pics/movies to comment on jaggies.. and second, i dont really think that the textures (especially in Metal Gear Solid 2) are dull (black and grey) for any other reason than that it is the artistic choice of the developers..  i dont think being colorful necessarily adds to the graphics.. if so Mario Sunshine and Kingdom Hearts would be the most impressive games graphically around.

but the special effects are unmatched IMO.. a couple of the pics posted by Inteq look horrible (inside the cave or whatever it is) IMO, except for the special effects, they just look really bad, and a couple of others look like standard PC games (notice the corners and textures on the rocks)

this is just me, but it doesnt seem to be a graphical masterpiece from these pics.. maybe my opinions will change when i see movies..

I will not argue that the game does have a PC feel to it , graphic wise.. Then again, I think every XBOX game does and we can thank the DirectX API for that, now can\'t we?

As for the rebuttal about the PS2 textures. I don\'t see how you can deny the lack of texture quality in almost every PS2 game. Artistic choice? I don\'t think so. If anything, I think for the most part the PS2 games stick to a dark color scheme to hide weak textures and what not. Just my opinion though.

I don\'t think any of us is denying it - but it\'s not every PS2 game. Texture quality is unfortunately (?) the toughest thing in PS2 development. As you said, Jak and Daxter is one of the games that does not suffer from dull textures - and it\'s probably the most advanced PS2 game yet and the first to really implement dynamic texturing.

As for MGS2. I\'m pretty sure it\'s artisitic choice. After all, that dark and green look does suit the surroundings very well and makes it even more realistic.

I also won\'t deny that the above two screens have very nice textures indeed. As I said, if these are ingame, then I\'m impressed. But I prefer to wait for some actual ingame movies as they can say a lot more than screens...

And Amped turns out looking better than the doctored shots.  This is a vicious damn cycle and the same thing was said about DoA3.  I like it though, it\'s a way that Xbox naysayers say, "Damn...those graphics rock!!! I can\'t believe it."

The funny thing is that this game will look ten times better on my 50" Samsung HDTV...just like DoA3 and Amped.

This coming from a Wanna be gamer, I\'d rather take MM\'s word on things, and you should know DXB, that hes a Sega Whore, as he posted SEVERAL times before.  I guess you are in denial about Xbox doing so bad in Japan and Europe? They cut the price so soon, why? Because they are AFRAID of sony.

There is always room to argue unless the host site says point blank all screens are in game.

Also since Rikku mentioned it, so far I\'ve seen no downgrade from early pics of the Getaway to recent in game shots, unlike the backwards progress seen in screens for several xbox games.

The jaggies in screens of VF4 (i.e. -another hot title from Sega ) didn\'t show up either until I saw it running on my own TV. Not horrible or anything (to me), just making the point we can\'t assume anything.

I don\'t live in Japan and I don\'t live in Europe.  The fact that Xbox is selling so "poorly" (although sales have picked up in Europe, Japan and Aus. where Xbox is outselling the PS2) doesn\'t change the fact that I will get to play Project Ego, SW: KOTOR, PDO and Shenmue II.  Unlike you Sony sluts that somehow find safety in numbers I play the console with the best games and sadly that\'s not the PortsSequels2.

Edit: Oh yeah, enlighten me to what good game you are speaking of that came out recently, because EVERY Xbox that has came out lately, is utter trash, has a very bad blur, or its just a POS game all around, and DON\'T call me a Sony slut DXB, Im still sticking with Dreamcast more then anything even though its dead and so forth.

You can pretty much disregard everything from Terry Bogard and Chrono as they usually don\'t go very far.
