The Eminem Show / Moby 18
« on: May 14, 2002, 11:47:37 AM »
I got both these albums a few weeks ago and just started listening to them. Before I start, let it be known that I hate rap.

Eminen Show:

DAMN GOOD CD. Easily his best, the only track that i didn\'t like was #4, where he blubbers and whines to his mom. This CD will possibly offend the patriots of this wonderful country, where he does quite a bit of government bashing in "White America". But it\'s easily the best track on the CD. The skits are pretty cool too, especially when he kills Steve Berman.

Eminem knows how to deliver a message.

Moby 18:

Moby\'s CD is great for the first half, nothing hard in general (ala Bodyrock), but still holds its own. It starts to drag after track 12, but its still damn good. It seems to have a lot more "soul" than his past CDs and relies a bit more on lyrics.
Microsoft loves you.

Eminem fan right here.

He\'s just one of those guys you either love or hate, and I happen to like the guy.  I get a major kick outta the lyrics, he has really started a new style of rapping, and he is one of, if not the, most talented rappers in the biz.

I agree with you 100%. His lyrics and his style are unique, and he definately has talent. His lyrics are raw, but it\'s hardcore rap and you have to expect that. At least it\'s different, I mean you can only rap about weed, b!tches, ho\'s, crack, and guns for so long before they all sound the same just with different artist.

What do you mean by "style"? Explain

Eminem is a better lyricist than everyone that you mentioned.

I really dislike rap, the whole genre is redundant if you ask me.
Of course there are some ok rap songs here and there but they\'re few and far between. Most of the rap people listen to sounds exactly the same, totally stripped of charm and good lyrics and/or melody. And the fact most rap songs are built on a sample of an old classic kinda makes the whole thing look damn unimpressive. Same with trance/techno and chart pop. I listen to most genres except those. I\'m a rock\'n\'roll person mainly though.

Lately I have been listening a lot to acid jazz, like St. Germain. Wicked stuff.
