Xbox 2? :D

Anyways, there was this really old article about how MS plans to stay in the gaming market for at least 20 years (Really old in fact, I\'m pretty sure it was written shortly after Xbox was announced). So I guess you can expect Xbox 3 and 4 as well. So \\/apor Snake:

Sequel? Why would MS even consider a sequel if their first console lost them so much money?

I\'m sure that the X-box is Microsoft\'s last system.

Besides, MS said it themselves that they don\'t plan to make money on Xbox until 2005.  With the abrupt price drops and the ever so fierce competition, I see that estimate prolonged unless something absolutely miraculous happens...

I honestly hope Xbox sticks around as I\'m enjoying mine and look to have a busy (fun) fall/winter season.

Don\'t take Microsoft too serious on everything they say. It\'s just like the interview Seamus had a while back: when asked about what he thinks of the disappointing sales in Japan, he quickly managed to make a quite positiv reply, by saying something like "it\'s the most succesful launch an american system had".. yeah right.

The way things are heading, this "longterm investment" is backfiring. The way things are heading, I don\'t think we\'ll see a Xbox 2.

Even though 2005 is rediculous enough, it looks like its going to be pushed back even more.  So MS is going to lose money for the next 4 years.  Not to mention they claim they are putting 1,000,000,000 into online gaming, which will set them back even more.  Plus they are going to make the first year of online gaming free. (at least thats what I heard)  Plus poor software sales.

Where do they expect to get their money back?

I think competition is a good thing. If we didn\'t have that we would all still be playing pong.

They plan to make it back in software sales...to get the software sales up they need to have more boxes in more homes, thus the price drop.  And they could make money on the server if enough people hook on...1 year free and then 9.95 after that...Sign me up!!

That was in one of the E3 announcements at IGN, seeing as how we go off rumors here I thought I would take it as fact...

No EA, No Activision...didn\'t they merely say they aren\'t supporting Xbox Live?  As in just the Network?

Well yeah, I agree, 2 billion is alot.

I think the network is the most expensive thing though, and maintaining that and stuff. Marketing, hmm, that shouldn\'t take to much.  I figure they are using MOST of it to keep the network stable and making sure its up to par or whatever you want to say.

As long as they keep it up, stable, and free of bugs/viruses, it will be a good investment I believe. But thats just me.

They spent 500 million on marketing at and around the launches.

I think it would be an awesome investment if there were more people who had access to broadband...the idea of voice communication and player hook-ups, broadband, for around 10$ a month seems to good to be true...I\'m excited.

Investment wise, for those Xbox owners looking for online play, with broadband access, well it is a DAMN good investment, who cares if there are no EA, or Activision games?  Im looking forward to the voice communication device, but player hook-ups? Thats news to me.  10$ a month isn\'t that bad, 120 a year, not to shabby.  I don\'t care, Once i have broadband, Im hooking it up, for some gaming online.

Blah i killed this topic.
