PLaystation 2 HDD
« on: May 18, 2002, 08:12:40 PM »
Here are the questions.

1) How many gigabytes?

2) When is it being released in the U.S.?

3) Price?

4) Will you be able to download add-ons into it?

5) Browser screen?  How is it like?  Is there folders like Windows or something like that?

The Broad Band Adaptor comes out in August in the US.

The HD will not come out until 2003... sorry.

That isnt good news.  Looks like FF11 will be pushed back too to correspond with its release.

But if the HDD isnt coming out this year.. We cant expect to get FFXI cuz it requires the HDD.. Same thing with Modellista which will make use of the HDD..

Hmm.. It has to come out sooner!

Is Sony going to allow PS2 owners to download movies off the internet?

That does look pretty cool.  I guess I\'ll have to buy one when I get my PS2.  Final Fantasy XI is just a game I couldn\'t let myself miss.

Well, FFXI isn\'t due in the US till "Spring 2003".

Also, Auto Modellista could be worked around the HDD for the US version.... or delayed till 2003..:(

The ONLY hope for a HDD this year is if Sony makes the BBA accept ANY hd and the owner would pick up whichever hd they wanted and just format it using the disc that get\'s packed in with the BBA.

Listen carefully, I believe this is a VERY distinct possibility.

The BBA has power and data connectors. These connectors would fit ANY hard drive on the market today (I know since I had one in my possesion (Beta)).

If Sony wanted to they could provide a format utility disc with the BBA. Then the consumer could purchase a HD of their choice. 20Gig, 40, hell even 100 gig if you wanted.

This would free up Sony from both support of the drive AND get their foots in the door, so to speak, even sooner.

I\'m waiting for this announcement from E3.

IT dosn\'t matter either way. Final Fantasy Xi will not be released untill winter 2002/3. SOome would expect them to get it out before Christmas. But the official US date is just 2003.
