The year is 2008 and gaming\'s oft mooted World War III threatens to erupt as a newly installed extremist Russian government leaves the international negotiation table and begins a frantic weapons build up. It\'s down to \'The Ghosts\', a crack US infantry team (that\'s you, that is), to go in and sort things out. Game on.
A follow up to Red Storm\'s highly rated Rainbow Six (and its equally acclaimed sequel Rogue Spear), Ghost Recon is a tactical, squad based first person shooter that puts you at the helm of The Ghosts, a rapid response unit with a reputation for being the first in and the last out of combat hot spots. The squad includes specialists well versed in various military disciplines; stealth, firearms, leadership and so forth. Using the squad command system you can issue basic orders to the team in real time, directing them where to go, placing assembly points, setting arcs of fire or ordering them to frenziedly dig fox holes in concrete with their teeth to escape hordes of enemy troops. Well, the first three anyway.
A new game engine, various light and weather effects and ambient sounds, such as bird song and twigs cracking underfoot, promise to make Tom Clancy\'s Ghost Recon one of the most involving war games ever. More as we get it...
