PS2 Linux Kit out in US and Europe @ $200

I would like to be able to save my online games on it like FFXI, Socom, etc. Is this possible with the HDD that comes with the Linux kit?

Alastor, it should be possible if you can get your hands on one of those "utility discs" that ships with the normal consumer HDD. Here my post requoted from above:

thanks for the info. I\'ve done some research btw, and it seems to be confirmed that you can use the PS2-Linux and the games. The only thing is, well, you will need to get your hands on one of those Utility-discs that ships with the normal HDD (for games). By inserting the disc, you\'ll be able to format the HD in a way so that it will work for games. After that, you\'re pretty free to install Linux (using the approapriate CD that comes with the kit) on a secondary partition. I\'m not sure if you have to install the partition for the games first though - but I\'ll do some more research and see what I can find out.

Blargh.. I want to get it but.. I just found out the banks over here in Sweden is forbidden by law not to give out private info of their customers to other companies.. So SCEE wont be able to sell one to me if they cant confirm my address..
There are other ways such as bank transfers, but they take alot longer and they charge extra (€20-30 I think it was).
SCEE is willing to give us a €10 discount.. but it does not cover the charges..

Not to mention the shipping fee (UPS) is €44 :(

Getting a little over my limit.

actually it is... when you\'re there, make sure to grab one for me too. I\'d rather have that kid which costs me €350 for free. :D

Hmmm.. interesting about the partitioning/formatting.. So basically this means that you can stick any hard drive in the system, as long as you set the file allocation system to the Linux based one.  I know that there are methods to add a hard drive to the ps2 HDD kit, using its IDE format, thus it should be equally possible to make format that HDD for use with games.. as long as you have the utility disc.. which I have, but it\'s for the Japanese ps2...
blah blah blah, blah blah blah
